2 ACEJMC Part 1 part 1-2 PART I: GENERAL INFORMATION This general information section will be included in its entirety in the site team s report, and it must present the most current information available. Before the site visit, the unit should review its responses to the questions below (especially 12 20) and update them as necessary. The unit then should print a copy of this updated section for each team member when they arrive on campus. A digital copy in Word document format of the updated responses also must be provided to the team chair to be included in the digital team report sent to the ACEJMC office. In addition, if any significant changes not covered in this section have occurred since the original self-study report was submitted, the unit should describe and document those changes and present this new material to the team when members arrive. Provide assurance that the institution has legal authorization to provide education beyond the secondary level in your state. It is not necessarily to include entire authorizing documents. Public institutions may cite legislative acts; private institutions may cite charters of other authorizing documents. High Point College was founded in 1924 as a cooperative venture between the Methodist Protestant Church and the City of High Point, NC. It was incorporated in 1934 through the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State (certificate of incorporation ). The Board of Trustees approved the change to High Point University on October 9, High Point University is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as a level 5 institution. 4. Has the journalism/mass communications unit been evaluated previously by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass s? Yes No If yes, give the date of the last accrediting visit: The School did have a pre-accreditation visit by Dr. Trevor Brown on February 21-23, 2011.

Statement should give the date of adoption and/or last revision. The Nido Qubein School of balances theory and application courses in a multidisciplinary environment, enabling students and faculty to think, speak, write and produce strategic messages about a broad range of ideas and issues. The School is committed to: collaboration between students and faculty in and out of the classroom; independent thought and critical thinking that produces ethically aware, historically informed, and socially engaged citizens prepared for leadership in the global community; culturally diverse team-based learning experiences; a universal right to creative expression.
