Gateway to Gateway VPN Connection 1. Connection Scenario 4 In the diagram depicted below, the left side router represents the SME200/SME100/SME50 in HQ and right side router represents the SME200/SME100/SME50 located in a branch office or at home. SME200/SME100/SME50 in HQ (Left-side) IP = A.A.A.A (Fixed IP) Local Secure Subnet = ; Subnet Mask = Security Type = (Fixed IP + Domain Name(FQDN) Authentication) SME200/SME100/SME50 in Branch Office or at Home (Right-side) IP = Dynamic IP (PPPoE) Local Secure Subnet = ; Subnet Mask = Security Type = (Dynamic IP + Domain Name(FQDN) Authentication) ( /24)-- --( A.A.A.A)------(internet )------(dynamic IP)-- --( /24) 1
2. Settings for SME200/SME100/SME50 in HQ 2.1 Basic Settings 1. Select the tunnel No, range from 1 to 50~200. Create a tunnel name. In here, we use Left as a tunnel name. 2. If we are creating the VPN tunnel via WAN1 3. Enable check-box is a option for users if this tunnel will be enable (working) or disable (not working) 2.2 Local Group Settings Note: All the types selected should be the same as Remote Group Setup of Right-side SME200/SME100/SME50 1. If we are going to use IP + Domain Name(FQDN) Authentication for local security gateway type 2. And give the domain name (FQDN) as vpn_player1.com 3. IP address will be shown automatically (SME200/SME100/SME50 can detect its IP address) 4. There are three types of local security group: IP, Subnet and IP range. Select the local security group type as Subnet (for example), IP address and Subnet Mask blank spaces will show up 5. Type IP address and subnet mask 2
2.3 Remote Group Settings Note: All the types selected should be the same as Local Group Setup of Right-side SME200/SME100/SME50) 1. Because we don t know the IP of remote SME200/SME100/SME50, select Dynamic IP + Domain Name(FQDN) Authentication 2. Domain name (FQDN) is vpn_player2.com, for example 3. There are three types of remote security group: IP, Subnet and IP range. If selecting subnet type (for example) for remote security group, IP address and Subnet Mask blank spaces will show up 4. Type IP address and subnet mask 2.4 IPSec Settings Note: All the parameters we are going to set have to be the same as ones of remote SME200/SME100/SME50 (Right-side SME200/SME100/SME50) For example, we are using IKE with Pre-shared key, 3
Phase1/2 DH group is Group1, Phase1/2 Encryption is DES, Phase1/2 Authentication is MD5, Phase1 SA Life Time is seconds Phase2 SA Life Time is 3600 seconds Pre-shared Key is secretkey To increase the security level, we can enable PFS (Perfect Forward Secrecy). If PFS box is checked, SME200/SME100/SME50 will periodically regenerate (every 3600 seconds Phase2 SA Life Time) Gold Key based on pre-shared key. Because we don t know the IP of remote SME200/SME100/SME50 (selecting Dynamic IP + Domain Name (FQDN) Authentication for Remote Security Group Type), IPSec will automatically use Aggressive Mode. Aggressive Mode box will turn gray and users will not be able to uncheck the Aggressive Mode box in advanced menu. 4

3. Settings for SME200/SME100/SME50 in Branch Office or at Home 3.1 Basic Settings Select the tunnel No, range from 1 to 50~200. Create a tunnel name. In here, we use Right as a tunnel name. If we are creating the VPN tunnel via WAN1 3.2 Local Group Settings Note: All the types selected should be the same as Remote Group Setup of Left-side SME200/SME100/SME50 1. Because of PPPoE, we may not know IP. We can select Dynamic IP + Domain Name(FQDN) Authentication for local security gateway type 2. And give the domain name (FQDN) as vpn_player2.com for example 3. Select the local security group type as Subnet, IP address and Subnet Mask blank spaces will show up 4. Type IP address and subnet mask 6
3.3 Remote Group Settings Note: All the types selected should be the same as Local Group Setup of Left-side SME200/SME100/SME50) 1. We already know the IP of remote SME200/SME100/SME50, then we select IP + Domain Name(FQDN) Authentication 2. And give the domain name (FQDN) as vpn_player1.com for example 3. Type the IP of remote SME200/SME100/SME50 (for example : A.A.A.A) 4. Select the local security group type as Subnet, IP address and Subnet Mask blank spaces will show up 5. Type IP address and subnet mask 3.4 IPSec Settings Note: All the parameters we are going to set have to be the same as ones of remote SME200/SME100/SME50 (Left-side SME200/SME100/SME50) For example, we are using IKE with Preshared key, Phase1/2 DH group is Group1, Phase1/2 Encryption is DES, Phase1/2 Authentication is MD5, Phase1 SA Life Time is seconds 7
Phase2 SA Life Time is 3600 seconds Pre-shared Key is secretkey To increase the security level, we can enable PFS (Perfect Forward Secrecy). If PFS box is checked, SME200/SME100/SME50 will periodically regenerate (every 3600 seconds Phase2 SA Life Time) Gold Key based on pre-shared key. Because we know the IP of remote SME200/SME100/SME50 (selecting IP + Domain Name(FQDN) Authentication for Remote Security Group Type), Aggressive Mode box in advanced menu will not turn gray. But, since remote SME200/SME100/SME50 is using aggressive mode, we have to enable the Aggressive Mode in advanced menu. 8
