Abstract This deliverable contains the dissemination materials that have been created as part of the project in the second year of the project in terms of addressing a general audience. It reflects on the dissemination materials planning from the first issue of this deliverable (D9.2a) and describes which materials have been achieved. This deliverable further provides the dissemination materials planning for the next period, i.e. M25-M36, covering This deliverable is accompanied by a second deliverable describing the exact measures taken to present to project on specific scientific events (i.e. publications at conferences and in journals, exhibitions). These specific actions are described in the deliverable D.9.3b. Dissemination Report. Page 2 / 11

1. Introduction The HERMES project focuses on a range of dissemination activities aimed at reaching the three main target groups of academics, industry and the general public. To this extent, dissemination materials are produced throughout the project, that allow interested individuals and organizations to understand the scope and content of the project and the outputs of the project that can be adopted for further use. The yearly deliverable series D.9.2 (a, b, and c) describes the project materials that have been created during the project. The Deliverable series D.9.3 (a, b, and c) describe the scientific publications and public events that have been presented and attended in the course of the project. Page 4 / 11
2. Dissemination Materials in Project Website One of the primary dissemination resources to reach this goal is the project website that can be reached under which presents information for all target groups. In January 2009, the website received a general overhaul to be able to achieve the goals as also described in the dissemination plan for that year: The website has been moved to a new content management system that allows for more accessible navigation The design of the website is improved A blog is initiated about interesting items relevant to the project, e.g. reports on conferences that deal with the topic or literature that has been found useful in the research. The blog will accompany the news section of the project. Where the news section focuses on the HERMES-internal news, the blog takes a broader approach to cover the field in which the project is situated. The website is kept up-to-date throughout the project (Figure 1). Figure 1: HERMES Website Page 5 / 11
2.2 Project Newsletter The second channel through which to reach the general public has been the newsletter. The second and third newsletter have been sent to the general public and placed on the website in March and December of Figure 2: Second and Third Issue of the HERMES Newsletter Page 6 / 11
2.3 Project Leaflet The two-page leaflet has been iterated in order to incorporate more detailed information about the project (Figure 3). The leaflet has been distributed at various events at which the HERMES consortium has been present (e.g. at the AAL Forum in September, see also the deliverable D.9.3b for dissemination events attended by the consortium). Figure 3: Two-page Leaflet describing HERMES Page 7 / 11
2.4 Project Poster The project poster has been prepared during the first year of the project for use at various occasions where the HERMES consortium is present (see Figure 4). Slight changes were made in the second project year to present more detailed information about the first prototype. Figure 4: HERMES Project Poster Page 8 / 11
2.5 Project Brochure The project brochure is the more detailed, glossy version of the project leaflet, pertaining to more sophistication in the print and presenting also the consortium. The brochure is a slightly more detailed document in which more space can be devoted to the individual components as well as their integration. Figure 5: HERMES Brochure 2.6 Video Materials Video materials have been made available of the individual components, particularly about the interface components which show details about the user interaction. Also videos presenting the underlying sensing and reasoning components have been made available through the project website, which contains the following video elements: Testimonials and statements from users Interaction with the user interfaces of MyPast, MyFuture, PDA and Puzzle Game, presenting the first integrated prototype Page 9 / 11
Technological backgrounds to the system. The videos are available on the project website at Project DVD All video material including press materials are made available on a project DVD. The following materials are contained on the DVD: Introduction Videos o testimonials from users o interaction with the system o technical background to the various components Reference to the project website Press package (logos, public imagery, contact information) The cover of the project DVD is depicted in Figure 6. Figure 6: HERMES Project DVD Page 10 / 11
3. Dissemination Material Planning 2010 With respect to the next 12 months of the project, the dissemination materials that are planned to be developed are described in the table below and are mainly further iterations of existing materials (i.e. website, newsletter). No new general project dissemination materials are planned for the project, instead the focus in the work package in 2010 is aimed at exploitation. Dissemination Materials Planning 2010 Newsletter Issue 4 The focus of the fourth newsletter will be on the first field trial, presenting the results that have been gathered in the user evaluation with the system. Although this issue was scheduled for December 2009, we opt to send it to recipients slightly later in order to include the final results of the first field trial. Newsletter Issue 5 The focus of the fifth newsletter will be on the development of the final prototype, presenting the second integrated system and the technical achievements that underlie this system. Newsletter Issue 6 The focus of the last newsletter will be on the user evaluation of the final prototype and the feedback received from the users. A second focus of the news letter will be the dissemination and exploitation goals that have been achieved in the project as well as the further progress that will take place beyond the project. Website Update The website will be continuously updated as new information about the project is made available. Particularly, the following elements remain up-to-date: o News, presenting new findings in the project from the various partners, i.e. to provide news about the project and also pointers to scientific news in the ambient assisted living domain which has connections to the project. o Publications, presenting the public outputs of the project both for a scientific and business-oriented audience as well as to the general public o Videos, demonstrating how the HERMES system works.
