5 Strategy & Planning What is it? Strategy & Planning is an organisational management activity that is used to set priorities, focus energy and resources, strengthen operations, ensure that employees and other stakeholders are working toward common goals, establish agreement around intended outcomes/results, and assess and adjust the organization's direction in response to a changing environment. It is a disciplined effort that produces fundamental decisions and actions that shape and guide what an organisation is, who it serves, what it does, and why it does it, with a focus on the future. Effective strategic planning articulates not only where an organization is going and the actions needed to make progress, but also how it will know if it is successful. Our service begins by working with you to clearly define your goals, objectives and desired future state of your organisation (Vision & Mission). Enterprise Architects can then establish a strategy formulation, where a high level strategy and plan is developed over an agreed time horizon. A strategic plan is a document used to communicate with the organisation the organizations goals, the actions needed to achieve those goals and all of the other critical elements developed during the planning exercise. A roadmap can then be defined to establish the enterprise vision. Services we offer: Vision & Mission Business Strategy IT Strategy Roadmaps
6 Vision & Mission Develop a Vision and Mission assessment including scenario planning. Perform a SWOT analysis. Develop a Strategic Plan ,2 2 1,2 18,33 19 Business Strategy IT Strategy EA Capability & Operating Model Roadmaps Service Description Enterprise Architects offers a service to develop a Vision & Mission tailored to your individual needs. Without a clear corporate mission and a shared vision of the future to guide actions, the typical large company would be ungovernable. The direction in which the organisation is heading and the outcomes it is trying to achieve is often poorly defined. A mission expresses the organization s timeless aspirations and values. A vision is more practical and describes a desirable end state consistent with the mission that will be realized within a finite period. And a strategy is the plan to realize that vision. Several key questions are central to the development of mission and vision: For what broad principles and aspirations does our company stand? What specific medium-to-long-term strategic goals are we working toward? How do we ensure that our mission is broadly embraced across the organization and not just seen as words on paper? How should we develop and communicate our vision to foster the broadest possible alignment? We have extensive experience in helping clients express their mission and sharpen their vision. These are some of our typical projects: Exploring Futures with Scenario Planning. We define and pressure-test a medium-to-long-term vision through the development and exploration of a carefully drawn set of future scenarios. Mission and Vision Development. We work with clients to craft, communicate, and establish a mission and then to shape a related vision for the business. Review of the initial position with client stakeholders ,2 1 1,2 12, 1 Service Definition Enterprise Architects offer a Programme & Project Recovery services provide a solution that repair failing or failed projects. Programme Recovery is different from normal project management. Programmes can often go off track and fail. Large scale, complex and IT enabled programmes are the most likely victims. The consequences for organisations can be disastrous hitting cash flow and bottom line results, damaging reputation with customers and diminishing morale within the business. The problem is that most organisations either do not recognise the symptoms of failure early enough, or do not know what actions to take to recover or even salvage a failing project. Recovery projects usually have high visibility at Board level, they get talked about widely as people like to speculate and second guess the outcomes and stress levels increase. There will be a sense of urgency and a need to take measured short cuts and apply rapid recovery techniques if a programme is to deliver to its original or revised objectives. Experience in knowing how to get it right first time is essential. This Service is all about recovering the programme or a component of the programme for example, programme office services or technical architecture. This Service is also about taking and enforcing accountability. This type of Service only works when we are integrated at the appropriate level within your company's organisation and all parties fully understand the authority and reporting lines. 15 Enterprise What is it? An Enterprise (EA) is a conceptual blueprint that defines the structure and operations of an organisation. Just as provides a blueprint for constructing a building, Enterprise provides a blueprint and roadmap for aligning business strategy with IT. The aim of an Enterprise is to support the determination of how an organisation can most effectively achieve its current and future objectives. The Enterprise provides a guide to direct the evolution and transformation of enterprises with technology. Enterprise has grown in prominence and stature as a key enabler to organisational success. Enterprise provides the basis from which data, organisational accountability, technology capabilities and detailed process can be developed with a consistent, reusable framework. Enterprise is becoming a MUST for managing today s increasingly complex business environment. Unplanned outage can result from viruses, hacker attacks, computer malfunction, electric power failures, natural disaster, etc. The need for ITDR is increasing with the increase of systems complexity. BCP aims to improve company s resilience by reacting effectively to any disaster within its Maximum Tolerable Outage (MTO). It covers every aspect of your organization, and highlights the potential business impacts that menace the delivery of your service to make sure the business can function during an emergency situation and to recover the business after the disaster has occurred. Many organisations fail to develop a Business Continuity Planning and leave themselves vulnerable in the event of a disaster. The below listed challenges are pressuring companies to implement BCP: Customers nowadays expect to be always rapidly served no matter what the situation is; Employees expect both their lives and salaries to be secured; Suppliers expect to receive their payments and service orders uninterruptedly; Regulatory bodies expect their requirements to be met and respected. Our consultants will identify your critical business activities and functions, develop a plan, train your staff and provide you with ongoing maintenance. Our BCP methodologies are based upon years of experience in both medium and large IT environments. The process starts with a Risk Assessment (RA) and Business Impact Analysis (BIA) followed by a selection of Business Continuity Strategies including a High Availability Design aligned with the Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), IT Disaster Recovery (ITDR) plans, Work Area Recovery (WAR) plans, Testing and Exercises once plans are defined, Maintenance Policies and Service Level Agreements (SLA).
