If a child is absent due to illness more than three (3) days in a row, a physician s note stating the illness, the recommendation to stay home, and the date the student is allowed to return to school should be submitted when the child returns to school. Parents may NOT submit multiple letters at the end of the semester/school year to excuse absences more that 48 hours old. 12 DismissalforVacation Children are discouraged from taking vacations or trips during the school year. If, however, family trips are unavoidable, the school should be notified several days in advance, if at all possible. Students who are absent over a period of 2 weeks because of extended vacations should not expect to receive homework assignments ahead of time and are at risk of being retained.
