31 Passive Requires strong signal from the reader RF energy needs to be transferred from the reader to the tag Requires direct line of sight No internal battery and shorter read distance Battery Assisted Passive Types of Tags Power source is from reader but also on board the tag The tag wakes up when receiving signal from the reader The BAP tag reads to a much greater distance because the BAP tag contains a battery which is used to boost its sensitivity Active Uses an internal power source within the tag
