MVH is equipped to manage low-risk and high-risk maternity/infant care 24 hours a day. As the hospital that performs the highest percentage of deliveries in the southwest region of Ohio, MVH gives women a wide range of birthing options. Safe in Our Hands All visitors must have an ID pass within the Berry Women s Health Pavilion. MVH uses an FBI-reviewed security system that can track a baby s movement within the hospital, so the baby s location is always known. MVH is also a smoke-free campus. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) MVH has a Level III NICU, the highest availability of services an infant can receive. The nationally recognized NICU has also been designated a center of excellence by United Healthcare. Our newly-renovated and expanded facility features 60 beds in all private rooms. Extensive Education Classes MVH offers birthing and education programs for the entire family including: childbirth preparation, refresher classes, high-risk pregnancy, labor comfort and lactation services. MVH is committed to saving lives with urgent care and current technology. MVH cardiologists are available 24 hours a day. MVH is dedicated to helping patients survive heart attacks and achieve a superior heart attack survival rate. Because treatment of the patient as quickly as possible improves the odds for heart attack victims, we focus on urgency at every level. Cardiac Alert Program MVH works with local EMS using the Cardiac Alert Program that uses advanced monitoring equipment and can confirm a heart attack before the patient arrives. Alerted cardiologists and staff can be ready and patients are taken directly to the cath lab. Disease Specific Certifications The Joint Commission has awarded disease specific certification to MVH for Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Acute Myocardial Infraction (MI) and Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG). Here s What We Offer Your Patients A risk assessment by phone prior to the actual appointment A screening when your patient meets the nurse practitioner for a personal history review, family history, review of previous medical imaging and clinical breast exam Genetic counseling by a certified genetic counselor regarding family history and genetic testing for BRCA1 and BRCA2 inherited gene alterations (which have been linked to hereditary breast cancer) Education on various topics such as breast screenings, self-breast exams, lifestyle modifications, and familial ramifications A support group for high-risk women offering networking and education Long-term follow-up care regarding ongoing breast health needs What Makes Us Unique Our staff is comprised of a nurse practitioner, a genetic counselor, breast cancer navigators/coordinators and a breast surgeon. Our team works collaboratively with you, the patient and any other medical professionals the patients needs deem necessary. We provide a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to screening and treating your patients who are at an (increased) risk of developing breast cancer. Your patient has access to two full-time Breast Cancer Coordinators to help with each step of the treatment process. These specialty-trained coordinators are there as a personal support system to offer your patient a more complete picture of what s happening and to guide them entirely through the treatment process. MVH also offers genetic counseling and extensive follow-up care for women participating in the program. Where Are We Located? Miami Valley Hospital (MVH) is a leader in the treatment of neurological/ neurosurgical conditions in southwestern Ohio. Miami Valley Hospital and Wright State University Boonshoft School of s partnership to create a Neuroscience Institute will be the critical centerpiece for conducting neuroscience research, which will benefit patients with a variety of neurological disorders, and attract funding for advanced biomedical research to the Dayton community. A Regional Leader MVH is the only Dayton area hospital to offer 24/7 coverage by neurointerventional specialists for treatment of complex brain conditions such as acute ischemic stroke and aneurysm coiling and stenting.
