DeKalb Medical at North Decatur DeKalb Medical at North Decatur is a 451-licensed bed, full service not-for-profit hospital. The tower also contains the pre-and post surgical services for the North Decatur campus. The Heart and Vascular Center in the hospital provides an Endovascular Surgery Laboratory as well as the Cardiac Catherterization Laboratory. The Charles B. Eberhart Cancer Center is a American College of Surgeons Center of Excellence and provides diagnostic and therapeutic services including spiritual and family support groups. The Cancer Center also incorporates a Nurse Navigator to help breast cancer patients preview options and begin treatment in a timely manner.

The 100-bed hospital is one of few in the nation to be designed with evidence-based principles and provides patients, families and practitioners with a warm, spa-like environment for healing. DeKalb Medical Long Term Acute Care at Downtown Decatur (LTAC) This 40-bed hospital is designed for medically complex patients who are diagnosed with respiratory conditions, severe wounds, infections and more. Specializing in ventilator and tracheostomy weaning, the LTAC team is led by boardcertified pulmonologists and provides intensive nursing and respiratory care that produces effective outcomes for high acuity patients. LTAC s return to home rate is 40%- twice the national average according to Joint Commission ORYX indicators. We are also the only U.S. hospital to ever receive Joint Commission Disease Specific certification for the treatment of patients who are diagnosed with respiratory failure and ventilator dependence. Free class available to any individual with a cancer diagnosis who has completed all treatment; designed to help patients regain strength, flexibility and stamina and to help them cope with lingering side effects of treatment; led by a specially trained physical therapist and geared towards patients individual needs. Tumor Conference, Cancer Committee, cancer staging and follow-up/ treatment information.
