2 ART 1) Overhaul the SOA MFA program to bring the Program into line with peer institutions. Changes include: a. switching studio courses from 5-credits to 4-credits b. giving MFA students a stronger seminar and thesis comprehensive experience c. providing a wider range of graduate courses for MFA students d. adding an MFA concentration in Graphic Design e. updating a concentration name from Digital Art to New Media Art 2) Convert previously taught and fully enrolled undergraduate Special Topics courses to new course offerings, and add them to the concentration course options; 3) Add three new courses to help with course sequencing 4) Create two new SOA minors: one in Graphic Design and the other in Web Design. Arts Entrepreneurship. 2) Adding new courses that will enhance the certificate offerings and graduate employment readiness. 3) Adding a Capstone experience to the MA program. FAVS 460: Advanced Video Editing (3 credits) FAVS 550: Internship (3 credits) FAVS 570: Screenwriting (3 credits) FAVS 590: Independent Study (variable credits, 1-3) FAVS 597: Independent Production (variable credits, 1-3) FAVS 599: Special Topics (variable credits, 1-6) GAME 1) Changes to prerequisites for several courses 2) A new pre-internship seminar 3) Name change of GAME 232 to more relevant title Online and Mobile Gaming 4) Required PYHS 160 GEN ED replaced with the more game-applicable PYHS 103, which deals with every-day phenomena and mechanics. GAME 489: Pre-Internship Seminar (1 credit)
5 MUSIC 1) Changing the name of our individual instruction courses from Private music instruction to Applied Music to align with the language used at many other institutions. 2) The addition of a fourth semester of our aural skills sequence and the corresponding paperwork, to better prepare our students in a vital skills area and to align this sequence with the current four semester sequence in music theory. 3) Changing MUSI 415/515 to a lecture lab to service more students to meet the demand of the growing school. MUSI 214 Aural Skills IV (3 credits) THEATER 1) Title change from Concentration in Teaching Education to Concentration in Teaching Theater Arts PK 12, as prescribed by the Commonwealth. 2) Course Name Changes to create a more obvious hierarchical link in the class titles: a. THR 300 changes from: Voice and Speech Fundamentals To: Voice and Speech I; b. THR 301 changes from: Voice and Speech for the Performer To: Voice and Speech II. 3) Addition of two new courses to address specific student needs.
