3 Project Summary: HIPERMOULDING Objective: Consortium: Development and dissemination of know-how in order to reduce throughput times in injection moulding by more then 35% through improved mould design, mould manufacturing and injection moulding. 6 Industrial Associations/Groups (IAGs), 12 Core-SMEs and 6 RTD-organisations from the Netherlands, Belgium, United-Kingdom, Spain, Portugal and Poland Start: 1 st December 2004 Duration: 36 Months 3

9 Development of know-how Mould design In-depth knowledge of cooling channel configuration design and thermodynamics and their impact on cycle time, energy consumption, mould life time, moulded part quality. An optimal HSM / EDM method for finishing layer based mould manufacturing technologies to industrial standards for accuracies and surface finish A methodology for mould-life time indication and performance. 10

Real industrial cases: In depth analysis of different cases driven by innovative and relevant European moulding industries. Comparing conventional methodology. Considering quality improvement, energy consumption and costing analysis. Covering a wide range of materials, sectors and geometries. Approaching the future: Facing the new improvements in design, manufacturing and injection moulding. 12

13 Dissemination of know-how National dissemination meetings Every three months national dissemination meetings in which the latest results will be presented and discussed. Participating SMEs can give their opinion on these results and advise on further improvements. Demonstration facility Per country a demonstration facility will be set-up by the core SMEs and the RTDproviders. Dissemination days Yearly knowledge dissemination days. Training 3 training modules will be developed to train company-staff also after the project. 13
