12 Current Unemployment Trends Average Unemployment for 2013 & 2014 According to the Denton Record Chronicle, Denton County unemployment rates continued to drop in December 2013, falling under 5%, based on new data from the Texas Workforce Commission. This 4.8% rate fell well below the state s rate of 6% and national rate of 6.7%.

Began construction of infrastructure in Canyon Falls for approximately 300 homes to be built by Pulte and Meritage. Harvest Phase I has about 75 of 320 homes either completed or construction started. Harvest Phase II, known as Harvest Meadows, received preliminary plat for 248 homes Harvest farm and greenhouse is operational. Faught Farm House remodeled and open. 39 Leveraging Tax $$$ So They Do More Work Denton County has been able to utilize innovative solutions to leverage its scarce tax dollars with singular success. EXAMPLE The County was able to turn an expenditure of $3 million in bond funds into a payment from the NTTA totaling $1.6 billion. That is a 534% return on our investment.

45 Length: 28 miles Estimated total cost of the project is $5 billion. Annual TxDOT Dallas District (7 counties) construction budget is approximately $500 million. Phase I started Fall 2013

46 IH-35E Ultimate - Funding Sources The $4.8 billion project is being constructed in two phases, the first of which will cost approximately $1.4 billion in federal, state, and local dollars, as well as toll fees collected from SH 121.

47 Funding needed for Phase I: $1.5 billion Phase I: Convert existing HOV lanes into reversible managed lanes to bring in additional revenue to fund the rest of the proposed project. Additional capacity will be added wherever possible along the corridor without purchasing additional right-of-way. Phase I construction: is scheduled to begin in October 2013 Phase II would begin after construction on Phase I is completed.

49 Section 3: From FM 1171 to FM 407 Section 4: From FM 407 to FM 2181 Section 5: From FM 2181 to IH-35E 5 Sections 3 and 4 have been completed. Currently, ROW is being acquired and utilities are being relocated for Section 5. It is anticipated that construction will begin in summer

50 From Shiloh Road to IH-35W Right-of-way acquisition on this project is now complete, and utilities are working to relocate. The project let on March 6, 2013, and construction is scheduled to begin by March

51 From IH-35E to south of FM 1830 This project was environmentally cleared in April Engineers are working on design, and the project should be ready to let for construction in February 2015.

52 From FM 1830 to SH 170 This project is in the early design stages. Environmental work and design are being performed by engineers.

53 From IH-35W to SH 114 This project will extend Dale Earnhardt as a 4-lane divided roadway with an urban cross section. The ICA was executed in May Dale Earnhardt Extension

54 From West of Trophy Lake Drive to West of Trophy Club Drive Work on this project began in March 2011 and is scheduled to be completed on April 30, $33.3 million from Denton County RTR funds was utilized to fund this project. Denton County is in discussions with TxDOT regarding restriping to ease traffic flow. Groundbreaking Ceremony: April 2011

55 From West of IH-35W to east of FM 156 Construction on this project is scheduled to be completed in October Groundbreaking Ceremony: April 2011

56 From West of FM 156 to Wise County Line This project let for construction on June 6, 2012, and is scheduled to be completed by June 2015.

57 From East of FM 156 to West of FM 156 This project is scheduled to let for construction in December 2014.

58 From SH 170 to IH-35E Denton County hired HNTB in January 2011 to engineer the project. HNTB is coordinating the preliminary concept plan with stakeholders along the corridor. HNTB is developing revisions to the draft schematic submitted in July 2013, including refinements to managed lane and generalpurpose lane access.

59 FM 156: From SH 114 to north of Justin City Limits FM 407: From Florance Road to FM 156 FM 1171: From FM 156 to IH-35W Design on the FM 156 project is underway, and the project is expected to let in June Feasibility studies for the FM 407 and FM 1171 projects have been completed.

60 From Wise County Line to west of FM 156 This project began in May 2012 and is projected to be completed by the end of January Groundbreaking Ceremony: August 2012

61 From West of FM 156 to IH-35 Utilities are working to relocate. Construction on this project should begin in spring 2013, with an anticipated completion date in July 2017.
