NO food-contaminated paper. The following items are NOT accepted as Mixed Paper, but are recycled in the Commingled category for a fee: Waxed or Poly-coated milk cartons, freezer boxes, cereal/cracker box liners, aseptic multimaterial single serving (e.g. juice) boxes. NEWSPRINT Newspapers (Including comics, advertising and other inserts) Do NOT include product samples, advertising mail, cardboard, or any other paper or non-paper product No bags, string, twine, or rubber bands. Until this situation changes, the District will povide glass bottles and jars collected at the recycling center for local use as inert fill at a Lopez sandpit as part of that mining operation s required long term reclamation plan. This interim solution is more energy efficient and much more economic than continuing trucking color-separated glass to Burlington, then paying Skagit Recycling to haul it to Seattle. The District will continue to seek a viable local market for glass and will supprt state container deposit legislation. Until such better options are found, we suggest you consider recyclable arternatives to glass when shopping. Empty and clean whole glass bottles and jars are the only kind of glass accepted. Examples include glass soda, juice, beer, wine, and liquor bottles, as well as all kinds of glass food jars. Empty and rinse the containers with water. Labels and neck rings need not be removed, but keep glass free from other contaminating materials such as plastics, paper packaging, corks, caps, lids. Wash glass items to remove all contents. (Metal lids can be recycled in either the aluminum cans or steel can categories, as appropriate.) NO ceramics, pyrex, tableware (crystal, cups, dishes), windows, light bulbs, mirrors, or broken glass. Place your prepared glass bottles and jars (which no longer need to be separated by color) in the 20 yard roll-off container at the recycle plaza.
4 ALUMINUM CANS Any flattened all-aluminum food or beverage can including poly-lined pet food cans (white inside). (Steel-aluminum bi-metal cans are recycled with steel cans. If in doubt, test with a magnet for steel content. Foil and Pie plates are recycled separately from aluminum cans. Aluminum cans must be clean and completely free of steel parts, dirt, liquid, or other foreign contamination. Lightly rinse and drain before flattening. ALUMINUM FOIL Clean foil, free from colored (anodized) foil, paper, plastics, food, or foreign materials. Reynolds wrap and aluminum Pie plates belong in this category. All foil must be delivered FLAT (NOT BALLED) to demonstrate that it has been cleaned and will not attract animals. Aluminum cans are recycled separately from aluminum foil. E-CYCLE PROGRAM IEMS Televisions, Computer towers, Computer monitors, Laptops and tablets, e-readers, portabe DVD players. We are now also able to accept printers, keyboards, mice, cables, and most other electronic devices.
