2 GPCA President, Jeff Dunn Message from the President Welcome to the 2015 GPCA Winter Conference - 60 Years of Educational Excellence! Thank you for choosing to be a part of this great tradition. We are especially excited about this year s conference because it represents a remarkable milestone for us. This is the 60 th anniversary for The GPCA Winter Conference at the University of Georgia. Thank you for your attendance and on behalf of the GPCA, welcome to the 2015 Winter Conference 60 Years of Educational Excellence. Sixty years ago! That s back when a new car was $1,900, a house was $10,950, a stamp was 3 cents and minimum wage was 75 cents an hour. Also, Disneyland opened in California, Dwight Eisenhower was President, and the first cans of Coca Cola were sold (previously it was available only in bottles). During this year, the Structural Pest Control Commission Rules and Regulations were completed and Richard Ray received license #1. Now in its 5th year, GPCA was growing in both numbers and influence, and hosted the first Winter Conference at the University of Georgia. The year was Honorary Co-Chairman, Nancy Delany We are proud to recognize Nancy Delany, our Honorary Co-Chair of the 60 th GPCA Athens Winter Conference. Nancy began her career at Arrow Exterminators in April of She was a successful Million Dollar Sales Club Realtor for Harry Norman and was first approached to consider pest control as an alternate career by Arrow Chairman of the Board, Joe Thomas. Nancy began to learn the pest control business from top to bottom. She has shared her time and talents with many in the industry by learning the art of developing courses for approved continuing education for both the GA Real Estate Commission as well as the Structural Pest Control Division. She became a certified instructor and always eagerly accepted invitations from colleagues to share her knowledge and knowhow of the industry. Nancy is known for her work with WDO clearance letters for real estate closings and showcased her unique position or bridging the real estate and pest control industries in order to find common ground benefiting both industries and consumers. She has worked tirelessly for the GPCA serving on the WDO Committee as a Co-Chair from July and being recognized as Committee of the Year. Proving it s not all about real estate, Nancy also served as Region 4 Director from July 2010 to June 2012, and was a proud and distinguished member of the GPCA Leadership Program in Nancy continues her love of this industry and her many friends she s gained along the way. We re a better association because of her dedication and commitment to excellence. Whether this is your 1st conference or 60 th conference, we are grateful to you for choosing to attend. Much of the best networking and information sharing takes place in the Exhibit Hall. Thank you to our Allied Members for your support. Special thanks to our Winter Conference Co-Chairs Garry Adams, Stuart Sinyard and Charlene Mertz and their committee. Our GPCA Education Committee, Winter Conference Presenters, our GPCA Staff and Executive Board, all of whom have been hard at work to provide you with a conference worthy of the name, 60 Years of Educational Excellence. These individuals and I can be found here at the conference and at the registration desk. We are here to serve. Thank you for your attendance and support of GPCA. In conjunction with our partnership with the American Red Cross, GPCA will hold a blood drive on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM during the Winter Conference. Red Cross is the single largest supplier of blood in the United States, providing more than 40 percent of the nation s blood supply for medical emergencies and lifesaving treatment of chronic illnesses. Every unit donated saves up to three lives. Georgians depend on the Red Cross and, because it is not a government agency, the Red Cross depends on support from the public to continue its humanitarian work in our communities. They can t turn heartbreak into hope without your help! Please plan to make a lifesaving blood donation during the conference. Someone s life may depend on it! *All attendees who donate blood during the GPCA blood drive will receive a ticket to be entered into a special drawing for a flat screen TV.
