Vick 3 RESEARCH GRANTS FUNDED AND PENDING REVIEW Council for International Exchange of Scholars Finalist Fulbright Scholar Award Title: Cross-Dialectal Variation in Articulatory Movement This proposed study will examine cross-dialectal differences in articulatory movements for vowels, specifically in speakers of Standard American English and General Australian English. The work will be completed in 2010/2011 at the MARCS Auditory Laboratories at the University of Western Sydney with Professor Catherine Best. Role: Principal Investigator North and Central Texas Clinical and Translational Science Initiative Pilot Grant Award Program Title: Articulatory Kinematics in Individuals with Spastic Dysarthria This pilot project investigates differences articulatory movements for consonants in older (10-15 years old) children who have spastic dysarthria as a result of cerebral palsy. Role: Principal Investigator, Total award: $27,491 National Institute on Deafness and Other Communicative Disorders (NIDCD) Pediatric Research Loan Repayment Program (NIH/LRP) This program offers federal student loan repayment for promising clinical research scientists based on the principal investigator s research, mentoring, and training plans.
