12 Make a plan Communicate the plan: talk about it and write it down Review the plan as often as necessary Reinforce child for knowing the plan and sticking to it
13 Interest level to child Amount of supervision required Adults skill with kids with ADHD Opportunities for developing social skills
14 Have a good bedtime routine Perhaps one bedtime for weekdays, another for weekends
15 Activities where the child can demonstrate skill Opportunities for exploring new media, crafts, and areas E.g.: wilderness skills, crafts, horseback riding, volunteering with younger kids
16 Build academic review into daily schedule Can be a time for tutoring in basic skills Reading for enjoyment
17 Consider carefully pros and cons of medication vacation and don t discontinue without discussing with physician. Hyperactivity, impulsivity and inattention can detract from the quality of the child s participation in summer activities.
