11 Supplemental Initiative Descriptions Initiative Title: Internship Program Description of Initiative: The station has had a program of developing relationships with colleges/universities that provide intern candidates for many years. In lieu of compensation, these candidates receive college course credit for their semester program participation in the internship program. Each session was approximately 1-1/2 hours in length and was presented by Brian L. Lerner of Kim Vaughan Lerner LLP, Board Certified Specialist in Labor & Employment Law, one of approximately 200 certified by The Florida Bar. Topics covered included respect for diversity, how words matter, how to understand the team and the differences that may exist, how to avoid violations, employment laws that apply, what is protected and what is not, what is appropriate/inappropriate and some discussion of company policies.
