1 VENDEMMIA (GRAPE HARVEST) TOUR: SEPTEMBER MID OF OCTOBER (September: Minimum staying 6 nights, minimum 2 people October: minimum 3 nights, minimum 2 people) The Chianti area has been one of the most important wine producing regions in Italy for over two centuries. It was the family of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Lopold I that began cultivating grapes during the 18th and 19th centuries in the region that would become modern Chianti. The best time of year to visit Tuscany (Toscana) is at harvest time in September, or just before harvest to see the vines bowing heavily with ripening Sangiovese grapes - the variety that is responsible for making Chianti Classico. During September most towns in Chianti celebrate the Sangiovese harvest with wine festivals such as the Vino al Vino held on the third week in September (17-19) in the small town of Panzano in Chianti, where many local wines can be sampled by the glass!

2 DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO CHIANTI Bruschetta Toscana Bistecca alla Fiorentina Relax and enjoy the unique beauty of Chianti, chilling out and taking a walk, discovering the magical landscape. In late afternoon, we will start preparing dinner and we are going to do a real BLIND WINE TASTING EXPERIENCE! You will have the chance to test your skills in determining the varietal, region, vintage and producer by only using your senses and become a real Wine Expert! Together with the wines, will be served some appetizers like cheese and 100% Tuscan finocchiona. For dinner we are going to have some delicious Bruschette al Pomodoro and the typical Crostini Toscani together with the Grigliata Mista! (Barbecue). You will have the chance to taste the famous Bistecca alla fiorentina and the 100% Tuscan Rostinciana!

4 Suini di Cinta Senese We will take a tour to the wonderful Siena, having lunch in a typical trattoria senese, where you can try the famous pici cacio e pepe (a kind of pasta typical from Siena). After visiting Siena, we will visit a breeding of the 100% Tuscan "Cinta senese"! Cinta senese species is a very ancient Tuscan breed of pig. "Cinta" means "belt", and in fact they are black porks with a white belt on shoulders and forelegs It has been raised in Tuscany for centuries: many sculptures and paintings, even dating back to the Middle Age and Renaissance, show how this breed used to be well-known and appreciated. After running the risk of extinction, this pig variety is now bred again, in order to preserve the possibility of enjoying its tasty meat again! Cinta pigs are kept in our untouched, large forests where they can grow at a natural pace. They eat berries and other acorns, and are also fed with the organic cereals. We have been amused by the true and genuine taste of its meats, roasted meats, completely different from the one of the white common pigs, and we would like to share with you this Tuscan treasure! After Cinta Senese breeding, we will visit a wonderful winery in Scorgiano, near Siena, visiting the cellar, the vineyards and the magic Rinascimental garden. We will do a wine tasting of the typical Chianti Colli Senesi wine and of the Grappa del Chianti.

5 DAY 3: WINE TASTING + VISIT OF MONTEPULCIANO, CHEESE TASTING + VISIT OF PIENZA We will visit a 100% organic and sustainable winery in Montepulciano, doing a wine tasting of the famous wine Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and having a quick lunch there. Will follow a nice visit to Montepulciano village. After that, we are going to do a quick visit to a Pecorino di Pienza producer, doing a cheese tasting of several variants of this typical Tuscan cheese. Will follow a visit to the nice village of Pienza. Going back home, we will relax enjoying the 100% Florentine Schiacciata con l Uva! Delicious! Schiacciata con L uva The Schiacciata con l Uva is a tasty and irresistible sweet from Florence, made with wine grapes and anise, sweet and sour at the same time. L è collo zucchero, l è coll uva, l è coll olio! : this way in the past the sellers of this local cake advertise their product displayed on the shelves of the local market. The Schiacciata con l uva (sweet bread with grapes), or pan coll' uva is a local dessert of Tuscany, particularly from the provinces of Florence and Prato. This cake has poor origins, and once upon a time was prepared during the harvest in occasion of festivals and typical sagre. Its modest origins are clearly visible in the simplicity of the ingredients: bread dough, sugar, olive oil and black grapes. With regard to the latter, the tradition is to use the grape variety canaiolo, which has small grains, with many seeds and, especially, is a type of grape of inferior quality, unsuitable for wine-making and therefore, to avoid it to be thrown, it was used in the kitchen. Today, this grape variety is slowly disappearing from the vineyards of Tuscany.

6 DAY 4: COOKING LESSON AND WINE TASTING IN CARMIGNANO We will spend a wonderful day in Capezzana, one of the best organic wineries in Carmignano..a little bit of Carmignano s wine history: In Carmignano the vines have been cultivated already in the pre-roman era, about 3000 years ago, as the pots and wine tasting cups found in Etruscan tombs testify. In the archives of the state of Florence was found a parchment dated 804, is a lease that certify that already 1200 years ago in Capezzana vines and olives trees were cultivated for the production of oil and wine. In the early Renaissance, Monna Nera Bonaccorsi built the first "Nobleman's house" and nine farm houses with wine-making buildings; this happened in Other generations and families followed in their age-seal: Cantucci family, related to the historic Florentine s family of Medici, and Marchesi Bourbon del Monte. In the eighteenth century a Cantucci lady, married to a Bourbon gentlman, enlarged the farm and bought new estates; also introduced an administrative method exemplary, whose documents are still preserved in the historical company. After the Bourbon del Monte the company passed to Adimari Morelli and then to the Franchetti Rothschild and his widow Sara de Rothschild, the Contini Bonacossi in Carmignano Wine is a DOCG Wine. The program of the one day cooking lesson is as follows: 9.30 am Arrival at the winery, cooking course BEGINS! 13:00 pm Lunch with the dishes prepared during the lesson and tasting of Carmignano s wines pm Visit to the Estate and the Winery. At the end of the course as a tribute to all the participants you will receive a bottle of wine or oil and a personalized apron of the Estate!

7 DAY 5: VISIT TO MONTALCINO VILLAGE + BAGNO VIGNONI + WINE TASTING Montalcino We will first visit the nice village of Montalcino, with its historical center dominated by the mighty and imposing Rocca or fortress built in 1361 to mark the passage of Montalcino under the domination of Siena. The views from its ramparts are spectacular, stretching towards Monte Amiata, across the Crete to Siena, and across all of the Valdorcia and the hills of Maremma! Afterwords, we will go to visit the magical Thermal village of Bagno Vignoni, where we are going to take an aperitivo at the typical Bottega del Cacio. Last but not least, we are going to do a very unique Brunello di Molntalcino wine tasting at the winery Paradiso. When you arrive at Paradiso s winery you will feel completely immersed in the harmonies of Mozart, resonating gently along the vine rows and across the hills before you. Weather permitting, our visit will begin with a walk around the Mozart vineyard, located directly opposite the hill of Montalcino. Paradiso's team will welcome you and explain everything about our Musica & Vigne ('Music and Vines') project. The visit continues inside the old wine cellars, where you can learn about how the wine is made. The tasting of the "wines of Paradiso" will provide an exulting climax for your senses, already stimulated by both the breathtaking views and Mozart s musical harmonies.

8 DAY 6: 500 FIAT CAR TOUR + WINE MAKING & GRAPE HARVEST EXPERIENCE! If you are lucky enough to be visiting Tuscany at this magical time of year,you can t miss this experience! Out in the vineyards everyone is busy, and we have a chance to get involved. We start with a tour with fabulous, iconic 500 Fiat cars, driving through the Chianti countryside when its at the height of its beauty. We enjoy driving on the hills around Florence and take a couple of panoramic stops before heading back to the 15th Century villa, where the adventure continues. Whilst marveling at the stunning villa, Fabrizio the head wine maker, appears. He proudly takes us out into the fields to inspect his rapidly ripening crop. We harvest grapes together, then head back to the presses and vats. In the pressing room we try the ancient technique of treading grapes and then see how the modern machines work. There is also an opportunity to taste the fermenting grape juice where the sugar is slowly turning to alcohol. We visit the ancient cellars with the wine maturing in oak barrels. Having worked up an appetite, we enjoy a picnic in the shade and a dip in the panoramic pool (bring your towel). There is a professionally led wine tasting and olive oil savouring to accompany the meal. Our tour ends at the villa, so you can relax and enjoy the wine!

9 DAY 7: CHIANTI EXPERIENCE: MONTEFIORALLE + GREVE IN CHIANTI + WINE TASTING + RADDA + CASTELLINA IN CHIANTI TOUR + VISIT TO A CASHMERE GOAT FARM IN RADDA Radda in Chianti Morning: Cashmere goat We will visit the wonderful villages of Montefioralle, Greve in Chianti. the visit will include a stop in several botteghe (artisanal shops), at the official Chianti souvenir shop, where you can buy a nice gift for your friends and parents, and a stop in the most renowned butcher's shop in Tuscany: Falorni ( We will have a light lunch in a small winery close to Greve, where we will have the possibility to taste some delicious hand-made pasta together with a wine tasting of Chianti Classico DOCG of their production! After lunch, we are going to visit the nice villages of Castellina in Chianti and Radda in Chianti.

10 Afternoon: After that, you will learn how to produce best quality cashmere! AN AUTHENTIC TUSCAN EXPERIENCE We are thrilled to invite you into a newly re-organized Farm Shop - a place for people who love fiber and yarn, handmade textiles, and who want top-quality, hand-made accessories, gifts, home furnishings and of course, who love GOATS! For those of you who love the best Italian fashion tradition, a visit to this farm will just hit the spot! First, there are the GOATS: Little ones, big ones and baby kids cavorting in the field fun and great entertainment 100% guaranteed! Just stand still and watch the unending antics of baby kids. Last but not least: CASHMERE: Everything you wanted to know about Cashmere but didn't know enough to ask! The basics of cashmere goats, what they are, how they are raised, how we harvest their lovely fiber and how it is processed into a finished garment. Finally, we are going to do an original aperitivo all together in Florence. Be a real Florentine choosing the Vinaino Tour in Florence! The "real" Vinaino Tour: art and wine in an unconventional way... Do you want to see Florence in an informal and funny way and, why not, drink some good wine? Do you know what a Vinaino is? It is an old-fashion wine bar, where you can help yourself a glass of wine and eat a genuine snack, like crostini toscani, pecorino cheese or fettunta. By the way, it is not something tourist-made! We usually go there for an aperitivo, or just to have a chat with friends. We would like to share our tradition with you, to let you taste the real Florentine atmosphere. Since we do not like the "eat and run" tourism and we do not usually make fast "pit stops", we would like you to explore our amazing Florence in a genuine and real way! DAY 8: DEPARTURE During the morning, you will be transfered to the Airport. It was such a real pleasure to have you with us, hope you enjoyed your time in Tuscany and that you will come back soon!

11 ALTERNATIVE TOUR OPTION: As an alternative to one of these tours, you could choose the Pasta Tour! Even if it is not famous on a large scale yet, the handcrafted production of pasta is also something Tuscany can be proud of. I wil, take you to a small family-run pasta factory that exports its production to all the world. During the visit the guide will inform you on the traditional methods of production and on the very original conditions in which this family works. You will understand why this pasta is so amazing and also why the Italians love it so much. The factory is located in a small medieval village called Lari, where you wil also explore a medieval castle of the Vicars dating back to the XIV Century with its gloomy dungeons. The castle is very fascinating not only for its history of many centuries, but also for its extremely panoramic location in the center of Tuscany. After the visit you are invited to taste a local cherry liquor, typical produce of the small village. Lari is particularly scenic since the view covers the whole lower Arno valley, with a unique sight over Pisa. After visiting the Castle and Lari, we are going to have lunch in the local Trattoria Quel Che c è c è, with traditional Tuscan food. On the way back to Florence, we are going to stop in a Truffle shop near San Miniato, where you will have the chance to taste several types of truffles, having a chat with the truffle hunters and their dogs!

VOLTERRA [Pisa] Astiludio - 1st Sunday in September ASTILUDIUM derives from the Medieval Latin hasta (flag) and ludus (game, festivities). The modern name ASTILUDIO is used today to denote a performance in which the ancient traditions of flag games are reenacted for the enjoyment of Volterrans and visitors alike. PIEVESCOLA [Siena] Porcino Mushroom's Festival - 2nd and 3rd week end of September IMPRUNETA [Firenze] The last Sunday of September in the nice village of Impruneta there is the Grape Festival! Do not miss it! PANZANO [Firenze] Vino al Vino Festival- 3rd week end of September ( POGGIBONSI [Siena] Festa del Pigio 1st week end of October. A challenge from another era, where the crushing of grapes was done by feet, as a necessity, but also as a celebration and as symbol of fertility. This event attracts thousands of visitors every year and consists in being able to push as much as possible of the grape juice from the berries in very small time of just seven minutes!
