Topics Introduction to Illinois Virtual School (IVS) Overview of Programs/Services Offered Implementation Models Supporting the Online Student Q&A plus Feedback on School Needs
ICE BREAKER! If you were back in high school which course do you wish you could have taken online? Be prepared to share; funny or serious reasons are great!
Illinois Virtual School Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) GOAL 1: Every student will demonstrate academic achievement and be prepared for success after high school. REALITY: Students may require alternative solutions to assure their learning success and reach their learning potential. Illinois Virtual School (IVS) can be a solution.
IVS can provide students with access to: Courses not offered by their face to face school, such as Advanced Placement, foreign languages or enrichment courses. Schedules that offer flexibility through non-traditional start times and summer school opportunities. Credit Recovery options for student to graduate on time. Course content and instruction built within the Learning Management System (LMS). This includes 24/7 access and support of an IL certified teacher. IVS is a supplement online program. IVS: Is not a diploma granting school. Partners with the local public or private school. IVS courses are recorded as a transfer credit on the student s official high school transcript.

CREDIT RECOVERY ONLINE COURSES - $70 Managed by an Illinois certified instructor responsible for grading identified key assessments and completing the student. A prescriptive pretest to identify a student s area of deficiency, and then generates a learning plan of competencies for the student. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - Varies IVS provides online professional development for Illinois educators. Educational partners from the state provide course content to be built and delivered through IVS-PD.
