1 Seminary (Graduate) Programs Tabernacle Baptist Seminary offers a series of graduate programs at various levels to meet the needs of men and women seeking advanced training and preparation for ministry. These programs range from one year of general study to four years of detailed study allowing concentration in a specific field. The graduate programs presented here may appear to focus on the fulfillment of academic requirements, but TBS recognizes that a proper walk with God is the necessary foundation of all true academic and practical success. Thus, every candidate for a graduate degree at TBS must have completed not only all academic course work and prerequisites but must also have maintained in his or her personal life a Christ-honoring testimony in keeping with the TBS statement of faith. This requirement supersedes all others. Master of Ministry Program The Master of Ministry (MMin) program consists of one year, thirty-three (33) semester hours of graduate-level theological study designed to enhance the abilities of men already in ministerial work but who are not practiced in a Biblical language. Prerequisites: An approved Bachelor's degree Eighteen (18) semester hours of Bible An acceptable proficiency in touch typing An acceptable proficiency in office software Proper documentation of all prior college-level study Written requests for all transfer and ministry credits Applicants who have not fulfilled all prerequisites may be granted provisional acceptance into the program while completing prerequisites at TBBCS or other schools approved in advance by the Academic Committee. Thus, the applicant must provide transcripts, sent directly from the respective institutions where the applicant has obtained graduate-level credits, with a minimum grade of B. Upon receipt of all transcripts, TBS will evaluate the applicant's prior work, wherein he or she received a minimum grade of "B", and determine a projected course of study to fulfill degree requirements. In special cases, an applicant who demonstrates the fulfillment of additional possible transfer credits by virtue of having taught or taken a course, or its equivalent, at a college or seminary of like academic level and Biblical philosophy may request in writing a transfer of equivalence credit. 12 Doctoral Degree Programs Seminary (Graduate) Programs The Doctoral programs of the Seminary are designed to thoroughly prepare students for intensive ministry of the Word of God by sharpening their abilities in Biblical exposition, theological analysis, and correlation of the design of God to a broad range of life applications. These programs provide one year, thirty semester hours, of study beyond the Master of Divinity level, requiring an approved dissertation in addition to the specified course work. Students accepted into a TBS doctoral program must maintain both academic success, with no grade below "B", and the standards of belief and practice established by the Administration. Students who do not maintain these criteria will be subject to immediate termination of their programs. Though some latitude in belief may be permitted while an individual student is learning, the Seminary will not condone or allow itself to appear to promote any belief or behavior deemed contrary to the school's Biblical foundation. Dissertation Each doctoral student will write and successfully defend a rigorous, 200- page dissertation on a subject approved by the student's primary advisor and the Academic Committee. Doctoral students will not become candidates for the degree until the dissertation is completed and accepted by the Academic Committee. The dissertation will conform to the TBS Dissertation Standards established by the Administration and administered by the student's primary advisor. Students must complete all doctoral coursework and receive approval of the subject, methodology, and content of the dissertation prior to beginning formal work on the dissertation. The primary advisor may at his discretion reject, or require a complete revision of, any work done prior to approval. Portions of the dissertation will be submitted according to the schedule in the Dissertation Standards, with the final draft submitted not later than two years after the completion of coursework. Exceptions to this schedule must be approved in advance by the primary advisor and the Academic Committee. Students must enroll in each trimester until completion of the dissertation. Application Individuals seeking admission into a TBS doctoral program must submit a written request to the Dean, specifying the desired program and describing their reasons for pursuing this degree at TBS. This written request must include all pertinent personal information and transcripts necessary to facilitate evaluation by the TBS Academic Committee. Current students of TBS cannot presume upon acceptance into the doctoral program and must follow standard application procedures. They may, however, complete doctoral-level coursework prior to making application or receiving

13 acceptance into the program. These courses will not be applied to their Master of Divinity studies, but will be held in abeyance, pending the student's acceptance into a doctoral program. Prerequisites All individuals who have not completed coursework equivalent to a TBS Master of Divinity, including prerequisites, will be granted only probationary status until all Master of Divinity requirements have been satisfied with no grade below "B". Students who are granted probationary status must complete any deficiencies at TBS, but may request, in advance, permission from the Academic Committee to fulfill certain prerequisite requirements at other schools. Students who have received formal probationary admission into one of the Doctoral programs will not need to submit an additional request after fulfilling the Master of Divinity requirement unless their performance necessitates reevaluation. Students who did not receive their Master of Divinity at TBS must complete all doctoral credits at TBS. Ministry Experience Credits Those applying to the Doctor of Ministry program and who have formal ministry experience may submit to the Dean a written request to receive a limited number of doctoral credits based on that experience. The Academic Committee will evaluate these requests and notify the student regarding their determination of acceptable ministry credits. The Doctor of Religious Education program does not allow ministry credits, but the Administration may override this condition in special cases where clear documentation of that experience indicates it to be equivalent to specific program requirements. Graduation Requirements Completion of all specified courses Satisfaction of all financial obligations An acceptable proficiency in BibleWorks 8 or 9, or complete equivalent

14 Doctor of Ministry Program The Doctor of Ministry (DMin) program provides an additional year, thirty (30) semester hours, of study beyond the Master of Divinity level and focuses primarily on those already serving in ministry positions. This program sharpens the overall skills of such individuals and provides them with an opportunity to study in a particular field of interest or need. Prerequisites: An approved Master of Divinity degree Six (6) semester hours of NT Greek with demonstrated understanding of basic grammar and vocabulary An acceptable proficiency in touch typing and office software with demonstrated ability to prepare and form documents A suitable laptop computer with appropriate software, including BibleWorks 8 or 9, or complete equivalent Proper documentation of all prior college-level study Written requests for all transfer and ministry credits The table below represents a composite of all graduate-level course work required for the Doctor of Ministry, in order to demonstrate the range of fields deemed essential for this degree. 15 Doctor of Religious Education Program The Doctor of Religious Education (DRE) program provides an additional year, twenty-six (26) semester hours of study beyond the Master of Divinity level and focuses primarily on those men and women who wish to sharpen and balance their skills for ministry especially with a view toward detailed analysis of Scripture. Like the Doctor of Ministry, this program provides opportunity to study in a particular field; but with its strong foundation in Biblical languages and their proper use, it also greatly enhances the student's ability in accurate exposition and application of the Word of God. Students must maintain a B average at all times and must pass a Biblical languages proficiency test before becoming a candidate for graduation. The tables given below present the requirements for the various concentrations available in this program. Students may choose to focus on Pastoral Studies, Biblical Counseling, Biblical Languages, Teacher Education, or Biblical Studies with variations as shown below. Applicants, however, may have completed varying levels of study in the listed fields. Thus, the applicant must provide transcripts, sent directly from the respective institutions where the applicant has obtained graduate-level credits with a minimum grade of B. Upon receipt of all transcripts, TBS will evaluate the applicant's prior work and determine a projected course of study to fulfill degree requirements. In special cases, an applicant who demonstrates the fulfillment of a requirement by virtue of having taught or taken the course or an equivalent one at a college or seminary of like academic level and Biblical philosophy may request in writing a transfer of equivalence credit. TBS will evaluate each request on an individual basis and respond to the applicant in writing. No transfer of equivalence credit will be completed until the student demonstrates effectiveness in course work at TBS. All requests for transfer credit will be addressed to the Dean.
