2 Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Founded in 1921 by Agostino Gemelli, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is today the largest private university in Italy and the largest Catholic university in Europe. Università Cattolica is committed to excellence in scientific research and rigorous teaching, and places emphasis on an instructional approach which focuses on both the human and professional development of students. More than a 130,000 students graduated from Università Cattolica over nearly 90 years since its foundation and more than 41,000 students are currently enrolled at the four campuses located in Milan, Brescia, Piacenza-Cremona and Rome. About 1,400 tenured school members are affiliated with 12 schools: Arts and Philosophy, Law, Political and Social Sciences, Education, Economics, Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences, Medicine and Surgery, Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences, Banking, Finance and Insurance, Language and Foreign Literature, Psychology, Economics and Law. Programs offered in the 2014/2015 academic year include 41 undergraduate degrees, 45 graduate degrees, about 100 master programs, more than 15 doctorate schools and more than 40 residency programs at the Medical School. The School of Economics The School of Economics blends rigor and value, namely, the scientific rigor of one of the best faculties of economics based on its academic staff, the seriousness of study, and the quality and completeness of its programs. Through teaching and research, and its long tradition, the School emphasizes the value of an economy at the service of mankind. The School offers an education that balances a core curriculum drawing on a range of independent and inter-related disciplines, and a series of courses that are tailored to understand and keep the pace with a continuously changing world. Students are trained in the fields of Economics, Law, Mathematics/Statistics and Business. With the support of teaching assistance, stage, job placement services, and experience abroad, the students will be fully prepared to meet the current and future demands of a competitive job market and business world.

3 The Two-year Graduate Degree in Economics (Laurea magistrale in Economia) The Economics program taught in English, is a full time curriculum, within the Graduate Degree in Economia, which is designed for students who wish to gain a thorough theoretical and empirical knowledge of key economic principles. Students will be endowed with in-depth understanding of recent economic issues and are expected to develop a high level of autonomy with regard to research and methodology. During the first year compulsory core courses will give the students sound economics and quantitative methods foundations. The second year aims to take the students closer to the research frontier. Students will tackle interesting problems in economics by applying the tools learned during the first year. The program offers a choice of courses from different fields of economics with the purpose of finding a promising research topic and developing a final research dissertation. The program aims to bring together students as well as scholars from different nations, creating a stimulating international environment for research and study. Career Prospects The program provides excellent knowledge and research skills for those who wish to work in research positions in national and international businesses, private and public national and international institutions (e.g. ECB, World Bank, Bank of Italy, IMF, OECD, Goldman Sachs, Consulting companies, Think tanks, etc ) or to pursue a PhD in economics at the best Italian and international universities. Curriculum First Year Microeconomics Macroeconomics Mathematics for economic analysis Empirical economics Statistical modelling Two elective courses of Business Economics among: Public management, Supply chain management, Performance measurement, Corporate governance and social responsibility, Business communication, Change management, Cross cultural management. One elective course of Law and Economics among: Transnational Commercial Law, Principles of Financial Regulation.

4 Second Year Three core courses of Economics among: Monetary economics and asset pricing, International economics, Political and public economics, Industrial organization, Labor economics, Topics in economic theory, Political economy of the European Union. One elective course among the above listed courses of Economics, Business Economics, Law and Economics and the additional courses of: Corporate finance, International corporate finance, Project management, Quantitative methods for finance. Final Dissertation Admission Procedures Students with an Italian Degree Students holding an Italian undergraduate degree ( laurea triennale ) who wish to apply have to meet the requirements in accordance with the Admission rules available at unicatt.it/portaleaccesso and can submit an application according to the procedure thereby provided. Students with a non-italian Degree Prospective students holding an international degree have to apply to the International Admissions Office following the admission procedures available on the graduate program website. The admission committee will evaluate the applications looking at the CV, the transcript of academic records and, for those candidates who took them, the results of the GRE (Graduate Record Examination) or GMAT (Graduate management Admission Test). A minimum score of 550 is required. The admission committee verifies if the candidate has an academic background that satisfies the entry requirements and may decide to create a specific study plan. Non European-residents are welcome to apply by April 15. Non European students living in Italy and European students can apply by July 30. Proof of Proficiency in English Applicants are required to provide proof of proficiency in English. For applicants whose first language is not English they will need to either: have one of the following accreditations: an TOEFL/IBT overall score of at least 80 or an Academic IELTS overall score of at least 6.0; First Certificate in English, Certificate Advanced in English, Certificate Proficency in English, Business English certificate; have successfully completed a degree program taught in the English language in a country where English is the official language; or take an English language test at UCSC. 5 Fees For EU citizens or residents, the annual tuition fee could range between 3, to 8,106.00, depending on the applicant s financial background. A flat tuition fee of 8, is applied to Non-E.U. citizens residing outside the European Union and associated states.
