2 Purpose of the MSc in Finance The MSc Programme in Finance is a two-years course on modelling and applications of quantitative methods in finance. The programme covers the most important technical and quantitative aspects of finance in regular use in financial institutions. This programme is intended for students who have a degree in economics, mathematics, a mathematical science or an equivalent training, as well as some practical experience in finance, usually via employment in a financial institution. Students will benefit from formal lectures, informal discussions and hands-on workshops led by practitioners from the industry or a leading academic in the field.

5 Credits To obtain the MSc in Finance, students are expected to get 120 credits, defined as follows: 8 core courses (60 credits) 3 elective courses (18 credits), without any constraints, within the ones in the MSc programme Other courses: English for Business and Finance, Fundamentals of Programming, IT for Business and Finance (18 credits) 9 credits will be obtained with optional courses, stages, lectures, professional and job introduction courses (e.g., CV writing, firms presentations), financial games, workshops, visiting lectures. Dissertation (15 credits)

9 Who should apply? Students will need strong quantitative skills with an excellent degree in economics, mathematics, engineering, or scientific discipline. 11 Double Degree Program The Double Degree program offers graduate students the possibility to spend the first year at the University of Siena, acquiring core knowledge and skills in finance, and to specialize in their field of interest while attending the second year at one of the foreign host institutions. Providing all course requirements have been met, students of the Double Degree program receive both Italian LM Degree and a Master of Science from the partner institution. The program requires the attendance of a whole academic year abroad and an overall involvement of two years.
