1 Strategic Web Plan for Sustaining Service to Our Constituents The Medical College embraces the Internet to communicate its message to targeted audiences, including donors, alumni, prospective students, faculty and staff, current and prospective patients, and the general public. (from the Public Affairs Department Plan) Objectives: E x e c u t i v e S u m m a r y To understand the content, functionality and marketing needs of the constituents of the College and the College s Web sites. To obtain institutional approval for the appropriate budget, timeline and authority to meet plan goals. To obtain stakeholder buy-in (Web Council, Committees members, decision-makers) by means of their participation in the plan drafting process. To draft a five-year plan, utilizing input from recognized constituents, that identifies objectives to guide the next phase of web development from Understanding Constituent Needs Through discussions, usability studies, focus groups, online survey tools of identified constituents, we will determine the content, functionality and marketing needs of the primary and secondary constituents of the College and Web site. Identified Constituents Prospective and Existing Primary Constituents: Students Faculty & Staff Patients Alumni & Donors Health Information Consumers Secondary Constituents: Neighbors Government News Media Other Researchers & Institutions Page 1 of 5

2 Primary Stakeholders Primary stakeholders are those within our organization with a responsibility in the management of the Web site. Other stakeholders include those who are directly affected by web development and those responsible for its maintenance. Primary stakeholders include: i. Web Development Team Primary staff implementing and guiding the College s web development efforts, including development of the strategic plan. Key Decision-Makers: Plan and budget approval and institutional adoption will be provided by these key decision-makers: Richard Katschke Jim Heald President Bolger Dean Dunn Douglas R. Campbell iii. MCW Web Council The Web Council will guide and approve the final plan and the creation of constituent subcommittees. Current membership will be reviewed and additional members will be considered. Standing Committees of the Web Council The current standing committees will remain active. Their membership will fluctuate as necessary to achieve the goals set forward by the Web Council. Constituent Sub-committees of the Web Council Primary and secondary constituents will help determine the content, functionality and marketing needs of the Web site. Page 2 of 5

In response to feedback and data provided by the Standing Web Committees, content editors, and institutional partners, the Web development team will outline budget, software, hardware and possible vendor requirements into a draft plan.
