5 Class Cont.: Important: This course will be monitored daily/weekly by the site coordinators. It is important for you to understand that all of your ac=vity (logging in/out; =me spent; ac=vity scores; quizzes; etc.) within your online coursework is being monitored here at Capital. It is important to remain on schedule and be sa=sfactorily progress (in the green) in order to remain in the course. a. On Schedule (defined): You must complete assignments prior or by the computer generated due dates; you must not fall below 70%. You will need to log in a daily or the equivalent of 5 hours (minimum) a week is expected. Some classes will require more (homework). b. Sa=sfactory progress (defined): remaining above the 70% mark in the "Quality of work" at all =mes. Each quiz can be reset by the student up to three =mes. A^er the 3 rd failed quiz, the student must show work for that sec=on (study guides completed). Tests will only be reset one =me. The 2 nd test will be the final grade for the unit. APEX courses will be graded as Pass/Fail at the comple=on of the course/semester. A cer=ficate is awarded a^er the comple=on of the class and this is given to the school register.

6 Class Cont.: Non progressing APEX students may be required to come into Capital High School before or a^er school or work at home in order to catch up. Students enrolled in APEX are expected to work on their classroom assignments while in class and will need to make reasonable progress towards the comple=on of the course on a daily basis.

7 Class Integrity: Class Integrity; Chea=ng is described as the following: Using other internet sites while tes=ng or taking quizzes (google, answer.com etc.) Plagiarism Plagiarism is copying or imita=ng the language, ideas, and thoughts of another writer and passing them off as your own original work. You agree not to engage in plagiarism when submicng content for any Apex Course. CuCng and pas=ng someone else s work and turning it in as your own. Without limi=ng the foregoing, you agree not to: Copy or rephrase another student's work Have someone else rewrite an assignment or rephrase any part of an assignment (not just proofread it) Copy content from student aids (for example, Cliff Notes), cri=cal sources, reference materials, or other materials, in part or in whole, without acknowledgment (including by rephrasing ideas borrowed from such materials) Source Cita@on Many Apex Courses require wrimen work in which you will need to cite your sources. Any direct quota=ons from your textbook for that Apex Course can simply be cited as (Author, Page Number). Any quota=ons from outside sources require full cita=ons, including author, =tle, publisher, date of publica=on, and page number. If you're ci=ng informa=on found on a website, provide the complete Web page or website =tle, URL, author if known, page number if applicable, and publica=on date of the site, if available. 8 Class Integrity: Important: Students will follow all school policies including the sec=ons regarding no cell phone and personal music devices due to maintaining tes=ng and learning integrity. If seen, heard or used, it will be confiscated and removed to the front office and only available for pick up from the building principal a^er a brief conference. If the course has an audio por=on to the instruc=on, you will need to supply your own set of headphones. Music devices can be used with special instructor permission.

9 STREAMING: In accordance with the OSD policy no streaming is allowed unless it s for educa=onal purpose. Instructor permission is also required. Examples of streaming: YouTube, online music.

10 Tests and Quizzes: All (diagnos=cs, tests and quizzes) must be proctored by a Capital High School instructor. You may not take a test with another person's assistance. While tes=ng, you are not allowed to leave the tes=ng room. You are allowed three opportuni=es to take each quiz; other opportuni=es require proof of study guides, notes and instructor approval. A student is only allowed to take a test twice and a diagnos=c one =me. You can "test out" of any unit you feel competent in by taking the "diagnos=c" and earning a minimum of 80%. There is no penalty for failing a diagnos=c. It will simply help you understand what you need to work on to improve. Diagnos=cs must be proctored. You may only take the diagnos=c one =me. *Reminder all tests are proctored at CHS and only the Apex test is allowed on the screen or the minimize screen.
