Professional Organization Participation Began serving as Local Arrangements Co-Chair for Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) 2003, a professional IT conference sponsored by the Association for Information Systems (AIS). Prepared the preliminary budget for this conference. Attended AMCIS 2002 conference in Dallas For ISM 4233 Information System Interface Design: Underwent substantial self-directed training in Visual Basic.Net programming utilizing web tutorials and various textbooks. Developed all new course materials, including lectures, PowerPoint presentations, sample programming code handouts, lab exercises, assignments, and exams. Materials developed reflected extensive Internet research of courses at other institutions related to interface design and/or Visual Basic.NET programming. Attended AMCIS 2003 conference in Tampa. Served as Local Arrangements Co-Chair for AMCIS Prepared budget for this conference. Recruited, trained, and supervised student volunteers for this conference Attended AMCIS 2004 conference in New York.

4 2005 Developed seminar course Contemporary Issues in Information Technology (ISM 4290) as part of USF Study Abroad program. Course required extensive online research and learning in a wide variety of subject matter. Taught course to 25 students in Osnabrück, Germany over a three-week period in August. Attended Microsoft Academic Days on Web Development conference in Las Vegas Also directed Honors College thesis for student that involved the analysis and design of a database system for a local non-profit organization Significantly revised ISM 4212 (Database Design and Administration) course during Fall semester. All major software packages used in the course (SmartDraw, Microsoft Access, and Oracle) were replaced with new selections (Microsoft Visio and Microsoft SQL Server) to improve course content and student experience. All new instructional handouts, PowerPoint slides, exercises, labs, assignments, and projects were developed to accommodate the new software. Two new textbooks were also adopted for the course, in part to accommodate the new software. Significant self-training of new software skills accomplished through online tutorials and various textbooks. Also significantly revised ISM 4233 (Information System Interface Design) course during Fall semester. Version of Visual Studio used in course was upgraded to latest release, requiring adoption of new textbook and heavy revisions of all materials used in course. Significant self training accomplished through web and printed materials. Attended AMCIS 2006 conference in Acapulco, Mexico. Attended workshop entitled Data Mining as an Application Platform prior to start of 2006 AMCIS conference. Workshop was hosted by Microsoft Corporation and featured a prominent author on the subject matter presenting the material.

5 2007 For ISM 4141 Web Application Development/Java: Underwent substantial self-directed training in Java programming utilizing web tutorials and various textbooks. Developed all new course materials, including lectures, PowerPoint presentations, sample programming code handouts, lab exercises, assignments, and exams. Materials developed reflected extensive Internet research of courses at other institutions related to Java programming and web development Continuing Education Courses Attended five-day (3/10-3/14) professional training course, Java for Business Critical Systems. Course covered design principles for massively scalable, continuously available applications, utilizing Java Open Source software tools and components. Course design integrated instructor lecture material with daily hands-on lab exercises. Also completed CD-ROM-based course, Fundamentals of the Java Programming Language from Sun Microsystems For ISM 3232 Business Application Development: Underwent substantial self-directed training in C# programming utilizing web tutorials and various textbooks. Developed all new course materials, including lectures, PowerPoint presentations, sample programming code handouts, lab exercises, assignments, and exams. Materials developed reflected extensive Internet research of courses at other institutions related to C# programming and business application development.

6 2010 For ISM 3113 Systems Analysis and Design: Underwent substantial self-directed training on Unified Modeling Language diagramming techniques utilized in new textbook, as well as self-teaching of Microsoft Project software. All-new lectures, instructional handouts, practice exercises, exams, and PowerPoint slides were developed during semester. Continuing Education Courses Attended a five-day (3/8-3/12) professional training course, SOA Web Services Development with Apache Axis2 and Eclipse. Course covered Web service architecture and design approaches, including Services Oriented Architecture. Course was a combination of lecture and lab, culminating in the use of Eclipse to design, develop, test, and deploy Apache Axis2-based web services and clients Continuing Education Courses Attended a five-day (7/30-8/3) professional training course, Programming in C# with Microsoft Visual Studio Course covered intermediate to advanced C# programming concepts and techniques, including inheritance, structures, collections, generics and LINQ. Course was a combination of lecture and lab, utilizing Visual Studio.
