I believe the world desperately needs strong healthy vibrant local churches; they are the hope of this world. It is through the local church that God s people become Christ followers, are trained and mobilized to extend the purposes of God. It is through the church that the next generations of Christian leaders will be raised up who have a fire and passion to reach people and touch places with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in new and radical ways. It is this strong belief we have at Elim Christian Centre Auckland that resulted in the birth of Ministry Training College, so that our future leaders receive their training not in an institution but in the environment of a strong local church. Elim Ministry Training College is a vital part of the ministry and calling of Elim Christian Centre Auckland. Elim Christian Centre Auckland was established in 1985 and is now a multisite church and one of New Zealand s largest congregations with over three and a half thousand attending services each weekend. Its ministries include a Christian school with over one thousand students, pre-schools and Bible College, all spread over numerous properties. The largest congregation and central administration is at Elim East in Botany Road Howick. Elim Ministry Training College offices and lecture rooms are at Elim South in Mahia Road Manurewa. Other congregations are located in Cook Street Auckland City and Porowini Avenue Whangarei. Our invitation to other church leaders in our city is to join with us in a training college that has resulted in the equipping of hundreds of church leaders. Elim Ministry Training College (EMTC) is here to help you on your journey to become all God has created you to be. Is God stirring your heart to have a closer relationship with Him? Is God speaking to you about growing your Christian life and becoming better equipped to serve Him? Do you sense a call to a particular ministry role and need training for it? Then Elim Ministry Training College may be the right place for you! We are a tertiary institution offering NZQA accredited courses and programmes in applied Christian ministry from a Pentecostal perspective. Established in 1997, Elim Ministry Training College s purpose is to develop people for effective Christian leadership and ministry. We seek to grow people of Christ-like character who will in turn be effective in their future ministry or vocation. In all our programmes classroom learning goes hand-in-hand with real-world application. Students will be given practical tools to help them develop personally and vocationally. Our distinctive campus in South Auckland houses well equipped lecture rooms and student facilities, as well as quality onsite accommodation. Campus activities encourage teamwork, practical ministry skill development, local community involvement, and personal growth. Those studying by distance participate in live on-line lectures, stimulating discussion forums and are fuelled along the journey with four block courses during the year. By undertaking an internship within their local church, these students are able to directly apply everything they are learning in a meaningful way. 4 CERTIFICATE IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRY (CCM) level 4 DURATION: 44 Weeks CREDITS: 120 INTAKE DATES: February, July This programme is for those who wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of Christian life and ministry. It provides a broad foundation for ongoing ministry, leadership development and personal growth. Participants can study full-time for two semesters or part-time over several years. Exciting opportunities for involvement Students are given opportunities to lead worship and prayer, to be ministered to and to minister to others Onsite students participate in outstation teams which visit churches in the Auckland region. Students share a range of roles such as leading the team, giving their testimony, preaching, leading communion, participating in a drama, or praying for people. Those doing an internship work with their supervisor to formulate and implement a unique practical ministry strategy for the year. Elim church national ONE conference is free for all students to attend. This offers top international speakers and opportunities to meet Christians from all over New Zealand. A mission trip to one of the Pacific Islands to share testimonies, conduct meetings and visit door to door is a highlight for first year onsite students. Exciting evangelism opportunities exist where Auckland-based students can share their faith at shopping malls, night markets or the Manukau Institute of Technology. 2. Vibrant multicultural community Our students come from many different cultural backgrounds. Long-lasting friendships are built and people journey together and encourage each other during the year. 3. Local church involvement EMTC values and supports local church involvement. All students are encouraged to actively participate in their local church. Those involved in our internship programmes have the opportunity to significantly impact their local church as they practically apply their learning in their unique context. 4 BREAKDOWN CERTIFICATE IN CHRISTIAN STUDIES DURATION: 18 Weeks (Full-time) CREDITS: 120 INTAKE DATES: February, July 36 weeks study 2 weeks mission trip 1 week Elim Conference 5 weeks holiday 44 weeks duration (CCs) level 4 This entry level programme is ideally suited to those who want to study for personal interest, or are considering further training. It provides an initial introduction to the knowledge and skills required for effective Christian ministry. Students can study part-time over one or more years, or full-time for one semester. Any 60 credits from the CCM programme which are on offer at the time may be studied. 5

5 DIPLOMA IN APPLIED CHRISTIAN MINISTRY (dacm) level 5 CERTIFICATE IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES (INTERNSHIP) (CCMi) level 4 DURATION: 44 Weeks (Full-time) CREDITS: 120 Prerequisite: CCm INTAKE DATES: February, July The diploma is an internship programme for those who want to develop their knowledge and practical skills in order to increase ministry effectiveness. This programme focuses on leadership development while enabling students to outwork their learning in a practical ministry context. Participants study full time for one year, which includes 800 hours of practical ministry, with two mornings of lectures per week. Participants study full-time for one year, which includes 720 hours of practical ministry, online lectures and associated activities, and block courses. This has undoubtedly been the most rewarding time of my entire life! It was the Lord who called me here. The Holy Spirit began to satisfy a deep desire in my heart for spiritual growth. Throughout the first year I gained understanding of the Bible, no longer as a series of stories but as the revealed character of God burning in my heart. With the Lord s help I delved deep into the depths of my character, starting a healing process that continues today. I was challenged, dared and empowered to grow - to see what God could do with my life. The second year, an intense internship in my home church, has brought realism to the dynamics of ministry and leadership. God is good. God is faithful. Trust Him, and answer the call. 6 Entry Criteria AGE REQUIREMENTS Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Discretionary entrance may be available for domestic students who are 17 years of age. ADDITIONAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS A one page testimony of christian experience. Original documentation as proof of identity and nationality, either a Birth Certificate or a Passport. Two references should be sent independently to the College. Internship applications require supervisor and mentor agreements. An interview (may be by phone). Additional requirements applying only to international students are listed on the EMTC website at APPLICATION FORMS CAN BE: Downloaded from Picked up from our Auckland campus Mailed out to you upon request 8 KING S UNIVERSITY Elim Ministry Training College has entered into a partnership with King s University (Texas, USA). Students can study in New Zealand towards: Associate of Christian Ministry Degree (ACM) 240 credits This is a two year programme giving foundational training for ministry and enabling students to formulate a biblical and Christian worldview. Students obtaining a sufficiently high grade average may cross-credit their study in CCM to this degree, leaving one year required for the degree completion. Bachelor of Theological Studies (BTS) 480 credits This is a four year programme providing students with specific training for ministry. Students achieving a sufficiently high grade average in CCM, DACM and ACM may cross-credit their study into this degree. POSTGRADUATE Master of Divinity (MD) This is a three year professional degree, and is designed to equip students for full-time leadership and ministry. Master of Practical Theology (MPT) This is a three year specialised degree to enable students to design their own programme according to their particular ministry calling. NOTE: As these qualifications are being offered by an overseas provider, they are not NZQA approved, so student loans and allowances do not apply. For more details refer to 9

COURSE RELATED COSTS Text books and ipads (for on-line learning) are extra. On-site students should allow approximately $300 to $500 for course related costs. My two years at EMTC were both pivotal and instrumental in my journey with God. He taught me so much about myself and enabled me to overcome things that held me back from pursuing my future. Not only did it deepen my personal relationship with God, it was also the platform from which I entered ministry. It was at EMTC where I preached for the first time, lead worship for the first time and lead a church service for the first time. Today I am a pastor at Elim Christian Centre South where I am involved in the worship team, the running of Sunday services and regular preaching at Elim churches around the country. It was a year in which I was shaped and prepared for ministry. My husband and I are blessed to be the associate pastors of Elim Christian Centre South, a vibrant church of 600+ people. Elim Ministry Training College is something that I would highly recommend to any person looking to go into ministry. The thing that sets EMTC apart from other Bible Colleges is the balance between theory and practical. The outstations and the missions trip for many is the highlight of the year and it allows you to practically work out what you are learning in the classroom. My year at EMTC helped me to grow and develop, preparing me for what God had ahead. Since completing my study at EMTC, I was called to Youth Pastor at our North location of Elim Christian Centre. It has been an amazing journey so far and the growth and life change we have seen in young peoples lives has been phenomenal. After a short, almost 3 years, since we launched our Oxygen programme, we now consistently see over 100 young people attend every week. I am a huge believer in training. It is what positions you for the future. To take time to develop in the character, gifts and abilities God has placed within you is an investment you will never regret. Here you have the opportunity to sit under men and women of God who are not just talking about ministry, they are doing it, and doing it effectively for God s Kingdom. A key part of our national vision in Elim NZ is to raise up highly trained pastors and leaders in order to build healthy churches. Church health is pre-requisite for church growth, and we are committed to preparing our people for the extraordinary challenge that leadership is. Elim Ministry Training College is in my opinion one of the most effective shapers of future leaders and ministers in our country. Many of our churches are led or staffed by graduates of EMTC. I am one of them. Adam Frost Youth Worker I look back on my time at EMTC as one of the most significant years in my life. I was exposed to excellent teaching where I was challenged, inspired and encouraged to pursue all that God had for me while growing closer to Him. I was equipped to enter full time ministry where I now run our Oxygen youth programme at our City campus and work alongside our East campus youth pastor to deliver an exciting programme to teenagers every Friday night. I love what I do and feel that I am able to operate more effectively in my gifts because of the foundation I was able to lay down through my time at EMTC. The thing I love most about EMTC is that it is both practical and bible based, with incredible opportunities to be hands on in ministry.
