Ideal for residential, commercial and industrial locations where wall and floor applications are not feasible. Quiet Operation Because of the extremely quiet operation, the BCH may be used in restaurants, nursing homes, schools and lobbies. They draw in large volumes of air and discharge heated air downward into the needed areas. These heaters feature the vane axial fan that has proven to be successful in other products. Brasch Baseboards are available in both ivory and white - add suffix w to model number for white. Quick connect cable clamps are located in right and left junction boxes to restrain incoming field wiring without the need for additional hardware. All baseboards are only 6" high and extend 2 1/2" from the wall making the Brasch Baseboard heater one of the most compact baseboard heaters on the market. All baseboards are constructed with a full length wireway along the back of the heater. An optional wireway cover can be ordered when specification calls for an enclosed wireway. Integral thermostats use the junction box cover plate on the baseboard heater. This eliminates the need for stocking different colors of built-in thermostats. A 6" ground lead wire is provided in both right and left junction boxes allowing for easier ground connection. The Brasch Baseboard has long-lasting stainless steel element rod with its aluminum chimney designed fins. The fins are mechanically staked to the element rod to allow excellent transfer and dissipation of heat from the heater into the room. By using a stainless steel rod, the hum associated with other models on the market is eliminated. An over-temperature thermal limit extends the entire length of the heated area to serve as a safety device in case of an air flow blockage in front of heater. All units have 20 gauge junction boxes at both ends of the heater. The front and back of the heater are constructed of 22 gauge roll formed steel. 9 BRASCH Electrical CABINET UNIT Heaters The Brasch Cabinet Unit Heater (BCUH) is ideal for commercial and institutional applications such as offices, stores, schools, churches and entry ways. Standard units include a disconnect switch, built-in 24 volt thermostat and disposable air filters but the Brasch Cabinet Unit Heater can also be customized to meet your most demanding applications. All units have a beige powder coated finish over an 18 ga. steel housing that is 9 1 2" deep and 25" high and are manufactured with steel sheathed finned tubular elements with full-length thermal protection. Controls Choice of eight control options include, built-in or wall mounted thermostats (24 or 120 volt) with built-in control transformer, as needed. Independently adjustable heat settings (high / low) and fan motor speeds (1550 / 1400 rpm) are standard, except 480 volt units have a single fan speed. Power interrupt options include either a circuit breaker or disconnect switch, except only circuit breakers can be used on heaters that draw over 48 amps. Optional summer fan switch. Mounting & Flow Configurations Mounting options include surface, semi-recessed or fully-recessed; on walls or ceilings; and upright or inverted. Air flow can be configured in any combination of intake and output through the top, bottom or front. In addition, a duct collar can provide expanded application and flexibility. Heaters shall be UL Listed assemblies containing all limits and controls as required by UL specifications. Controls shall be housed in a Nema 4x non-metallic control enclosure fixed to bottom of unit heater. The control enclosure will open from bottom for ease of installation and service. The control enclosure will include contactors, 24-volt transformer, fusing (NEC required) pilot light (power on), thermostat and 3-position switch (heat - off - fan). The heater scroll will be 16 gauge 304 stainless steel with 304 stainless steel outlet louvre. The inlet grille will be chrome plated. The motor shall be totally enclosed, permanently lubricated, designed to resist moisture and corrosion, and factory-wired to Nema 4x enclosure. Single point line voltage connection available for 208, 240, 277, 480, and 600 volt service. Door interlock disconnect on Nema 4x control enclosure shall be factory installed and wired. They tolerate continuous spraying with water, high humidity, airborne contaminates and moderately corrosive conditions. The nickel plated sensing bulb is attached directly to the bottom of the case where it is shielded from damage or accumulators of insulating particles. The molded Noryl case is sealed at the cover with a neoprene gasket and the adjusting knob opening is closed with a lubricated 0 ring. Underwriters Laboratories has tested the T109 and found it meets the requirement for NEMA 4x enclosures. High levels of accuracy and sensitivity are provided by the T109. Switching is done by heavy duty, precision, snap action switches. Setting is accomplished by rotating the adjusting knob. The dial face is printed with large contrasting numbers and letters on a lustrous background for good visibility. Force and motion for switch actuation are provided by changes in temperature expanding or contracting the fluid contained with the sensing bulb and transmitted hydraulically and through an appropriate linkage to the switch operator. Color coding clearly identifies the function of each conductor. 16 BHUH Features Designed for rugged industrial applications in hazardous locations where the possibility of explosion or fire exists due to the presence of certain flammable gases, vapors, powdered metals or dusts. Permanently sealed, liquid to air, finned tube heat exchanger core. Ethylene Glycol to water mixture used a heat transfer fluid in the heater core, providing -45 C, (-49 F) freeze damage protection. High-performance electric motor driven fan blows air across finned tubes to effect uniform heat transfer and area heat distribution. Before selecting any heater for a particular application, refer to Article 500 as well as other standards referenced in the National Electric Code. Class I: Equipment does not have surface operating temperature in excess of the ignition temperature of the specific gas or vapor. Class II: Equipment does not have surface temperature greater than the ignition temperature of the specified dust. Group D: Atmospheres such as but not limited to acetone, alcohol, gasoline, lacquer solvent vapors, natural gas, propane or other gases or vapors of equivalent hazard. Group E: Atmospheres containing combustible metal dust regardless of resistivity, or other combustible dust of similar hazard characteristics having resistivity of less than 10 OHM- Centimeter. 21 BRASCH ARCHITECTURAL ELECTRIC CONVECTORS Architectural Convectors are custom built with unsurpassed craftsmanship. Standard length and custom fitted draft barrier, sill height and pedestal heaters meet the most demanding architectural specifications. Low initial cost and negligible maintenance make them suitable for all projects stressing energy and cost optimization. Application Brasch Architectural Convectors are ideal for perimeter heating of schools, lobby areas, public buildings, nursing homes and other commercial applications providing individual room control and warm air draft protection for wall and window exposures. Heating capabilities to 750 watts per foot in a wide variety of cabinet styles provide continuous clean horizontal lines to complement any building project. Enclosures are available in standard and special painted colors and in clear and color anodized finishes. Construction Features Snap-fit construction saves installation time, eliminates unsightly screws. Pencil-proof louvers have 1/4 inch spacings. Heavy gauge extruded aluminum grilles with 15 degree angled louvers direct heated air away from wall for cleaner operation. Enclosures are fabricated of heavy gauge materials to assure compliance with architectural requirements to withstand years of rough usage. All enclosures can be finished to match window mullions, wall surfaces and interior decor. Multiple heaters factory wired on the same backplate are available up to maximum front enclosure lengths (see Table 1). Front cover enclosures are available in continuous lengths up to maximums (see Table 1) to eliminate unnecessary splices (special order). Aluminum only. Full length thermal cutout with automatic reset prevents overheating when airflow is blocked. Heating elements mounted on free floating nylon bushings for quiet operation. Aluminum sheath element has mechanically bonded fins for cooler operating temperatures. Built-in 1/2 inch EMT raceway allows field wiring from either end. (3/4 inch EMT also available). Control section can accommodate optional controls as required. Junction boxes in heaters (except DBTS) will accept most controls (see page 23). Optional controls include thermostat, disconnect (with or without 20 amp fuse and fuse block), power relay, transformer relay and PE switch. Snap-fit Construction 1/4" Pencil-proof Louvers Aluminum Front Cover Accessories (see page 23) include end caps, wall trim splice plates, inside and outside corners, mullion fronts, inside fillers, blank sections, control sections, 1/4 inch wire mesh under grille, pedestals and duplex receptacles. Disconnect switch and relay, separately or in combination with thermostat, allow for right hand wire entry. Integral thermostat allows wire entry at either end. Finishes The standard finish on all heaters is ASI Bronze paint. Other standardized paint colors which are available are Eggshell White, Beige, Gray, and Black. Anodized finishes can be provided on aluminum enclosure heaters. Those available are 204R1 Clear, 313R1 Bronze and Black. Actual samples of any of the foregoing finishes can be provided upon request. 22 Standard Profile Draft Barriers DBF & DBT These heaters have a 6" x 3 1/2" profile with a snap-fit extruded aluminum enclosure and a 12 ga. aluminum backplate. The DBF is available with up to 250 watts per foot of heating and the DBT with up to 300 watts per foot of heating. DBF is designed for floor mounting with front inlet and top outlet. DBT is designed for wall mounting with bottom inlet and top outlet but pedestals can be supplied for floor mounting. Low Profile Draft Barriers DBTS & CB The DBTS heater has a 4" x 2 5/8" profile and the CB heater has a 4 1/2" x 2 5/8" profile. Both have a snap-fit extruded aluminum enclosure and a 14 ga. aluminum backplate.the DBTS heater is available with up to 300 watts per foot of heating.the CB heater is available with up to 250 watts per foot of heating. Thermostats shall be adjustable (tamperproof ) through discharge louver. Separate control sections shall include factory mounted PE switches, mercury contactors, circuit breakers and control transformers (as scheduled). 25 Limited Warranty All Brasch Manufacturing Company, Inc. products covered in this bulletin are warranted against defects in workmanship and materials for one year from date of purchase. This warranty does not apply to damage from accident, misuse or alteration; nor where the connected voltage is more than 5% above product nameplate voltage; nor to equipment improperly installed or wired or maintained in violation of installation instructions. This warranty is valid only in the fifty states of the United States. No other written or oral warranty applies. No employee, agent, dealer or other person is authorized to extend warranty on behalf of Brasch Manufacturing Company. The customer shall be responsible for all costs incurred in the removal or reinstallation and shipping of the product for repairs. Inoperative units should be returned to Brasch, attention of Service Manager for repair or replacement at our option. Product will be returned freight prepaid. Repair or replacement is the exclusive remedy available from Brasch who is not liable for damages of any kind, including incidental and consequential damage.
