This unique course will provide an outstanding opportunity to advance your knowledge and surgical skills in achieving spinal balance through didactic lectures, case-based discussions and hands-on practical exercises in a sawbone setting. Faculty selection includes recognized neurosurgeon and orthopaedic leaders who are eager to share their knowledge and experience with you. 6 Workshops Hands-on Technique Workshops Attendees may select two of the following: Breakout Room #1 and #2 Osteotomy Selection and Techniques In this workshop, the focus will be on Smith-Petersen osteotomy and pedicle subtraction osteotomy along with case-based discussions and hands-on demonstrations. Breakout Room #3 and #4 Advanced Reconstruction Techniques This workshop will concentrate on complex corrective osteotomy techniques. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to describe indications, goals, surgical techniques, outcomes and potential complications associated with vertebral column resection osteotomy and sacral osteotomy. Case examples will be presented and the particular anatomical considerations, surgical tips and potential pitfalls will be reviewed. Breakout Room #5 Anterior Release from Posterior Approach This workshop will demonstrate how to correct sagittal plane alignment from the posterior approach for patients with conditions such as ankylosing spondylitis. Breakout Room #6 MIS S2-AI Techniques The workshop will focus on the importance of sacropelvic fixation and compare methods of traditional iliac fixation with S2-AI fixation. Methods will be taught using anatomic landmarks and radiographic techniques. Breakout Room #7 Maximizing Sagittal Alignment with Expandable Spacers This workshop we will focus on recreating the spines sagittal alignment through expandable spacers. We will focus on tips and techniques that can be used to create segmental and global lordosis through expandable spacers.
