1 St. Timothy Parish Ministry Report August 4, 2015 COMMUNITY LIFE BINGO Chris Canedy and Marilu Wernock -July proved to be a great month for bingo, even as we had our traditional decline in players owing to vacations and the return North of our part-year players. We are averaging 108 players per week this summer and that is a 10% to 12% increase over last summer. -With the expanded parish center fully occupied, bingo will be able to spread out a bit, and perhaps be able to grow our participation as our players talk to others about how great bingo is inside the new expanded facility. We will be marketing our bingo offering to other bingo venues via players that play in both places. -The kitchen volunteers really came through in July, with the average food spending per player rising each week. We are sold on our new "premium" offerings and so are our bingo players/eaters. We will continue to offer a weekly "special item" to keep variety in our diets! -Bingo continues to attract parishioners of St. Tim's, parishioners of other parishes in the dioceses and members of the surrounding community. We were off for the entire month of March but are hopeful that when we resume bingo the Friday after Easter, our players will return in force and that we will not lose too much of the inertia experienced in January and February. -Our bingo players are served by an average of volunteers, and in July, we had several new volunteers that joined us to fill in for regulars who were on vacation. Our volunteers have invested a cumulative of 150 years of service in bingo, and are involved in such activities as cooking in the kitchen, serving food to players, washing dishes, selling bingo cards, calling bingo, managing the prize money distribution and cleaning up used bingo materials throughout the evening. -During the first half of 2015, we gained several new volunteers and two new callers. During the second half of the year we will be talking to parishioners who may want to begin volunteering at bingo, in order to be able to provide more flexible hours to our current volunteers. -As always, our players and volunteers enjoy a great deal of camaraderie with one another, which adds to the fun we all have on Friday nights. We are all truly sharing of our time, talent and treasure. -Come see our new RED bingo shirts that were provided each of our volunteers at our recent Bingo Appreciation Dinner, at the end of May.
