1 Trans-Siberian Train Journey 21D/20N (from St. Petersburg) Duration: 21 Days Start: St. Petersburg, Russia End: Beijing, China Countries Visited: Russia Introduction Experience an intriguing adventure along the Trans Siberian and Trans Mongolian Railways from St. Petersburg to Beijing with stops in Moscow, Irkutsk, Ulaanbaatar and Beijing to see natural wonders and get a feel for the local way of life. Choose to explore on your own or tour each destination with a local tour leader for the best local insights. Enjoy this journey with a small group of young like-minded travellers and a flexible schedule. Highlights: Freedom to decide what to see, eat and do in each city Visit sights of Russia, Mongolia & China Get a feel for the local way of life Description How it works: Travel with a small group of young, like-minded individuals who happen to be following the same itinerary without a Tour Leader to guide you, but a local expert at each city stop. There are no set activities so you choose what to see and do in each place. Simply take it easy and hang out with your local guide who will show you some cool local places or go on optional activities as you please. Your adventure includes train travel, accommodation, transfers en-route and local experts to help you out in each city stop and get the most out of your stay. Travel with a small group of no more than 15 people, the perfect combination of backpacking and small group travel at budget do-it-yourself prices without the restrictions of a normal tour. The choice of what to see and do is up to you! Itinerary Overview: Arrive to St. Petersburg and enjoy the city for a few days, before departing on an overnight train to Moscow to spend a few days exploring the city. Then board the Trans Siberian Railway to Irkutsk and enjoy free time at Lake Baikal before transferring back to Irkutsk and hopping on the train to Ulaanbaatar. Enjoy two days at the Terelj National Park and sleep overnight in traditional felt huts known as Gers used by local nomads. Then hop on the Trans Mongolian Railway and travel through the Gobi Desert before reaching Beijing, your final stop on this amazing overland journey.

2 Day by Day Itinerary Day 1 - Arrival to St. Petersburg Today is an arrival day. Make your own way from the airport to your accommodation and get settled in. Enjoy free time for the rest of the day to get to know the city. Day 2 - St. Petersburg Free Day Enjoy a free day to visit some of the famous sights of this beautiful city on your own. Built by Peter the Great as the Venice of the North, the city boast marble palaces and the grand Nevsky Prospect Avenue. Stop by the famous Hermitage Museum & Gallery built by Catherine the Great and immerse yourself in the spectacular architecture of this city which is home to Russian intellectuals and liberals. Sip a coffee, throw back a shot of vodka and listen to live music for a night out on the town on your own. Day 3 - St. Petersburg Free Day & Overnight Train to Moscow Enjoy one more day in St. Petersburg and make last minute preparations before boarding your overnight train to Moscow. Day 4 - Arrival to Moscow & Free Day Today you arrive to Moscow where you will be transferred to your accommodation and have time to get settled in. Plan your next few days in Moscow to see the popular sights of the Kremlin, Bolshoi and other key attractions. Go out at night to live the thriving club scene firsthand on your own. Day 5 - Moscow Free Day Enjoy another day on your own in Moscow, try out your luck travelling by metro and venturing to the unknown corners of the city. Day 6 - Moscow & Depart for Irkutsk by Train Depart Moscow for a 3-day ride on the Trans Siberian Railway to Irkutsk. Days Trans Siberian Railway Break out your trusty deck of cards, make some new friends and head down to the dining car to socialize and practice your Russian for the next few days. Get some rest, read a book and enjoy the scenery while contemplating the Russian landscapes passing by. Day 10 - Arrival to Irkutsk and transfer to Lake Baikal

3 Arrive to the town of Irkutsk today and transfer to nearby Lake Baikal. This impressive lake is the world's largest and deepest freshwater lake and holds approximately 20% of the world's freshwater. It is 1,642 metres deep (5,387 feet) and is considered to be 25 million years old. Stay in a village on the shores of this massive lake and relax with a boat ride, an energizing walk in the fresh air, an icy dip or a sweltering sauna. Day 11 - Lake Baikal Free Day Enjoy another free day in Lake Baikal and organize optional activities on your own. Day 12 - Transfer to Irkutsk & Depart for Ulaanbaatar by Train Transfer back to the town of Irkutsk today and hop on the train for your journey to Ulaanbaatar. Day 13 - Trans Mongolian Railway Relax on the train as you travel into Mongolia where you will have the chance to see your first yak and watch the local people trading their goods at the border. Get some rest and enjoy the scenery. Day 14 - Arrival to Ulaanbaatar Welcome to the Mongolian capital city of Ulaanbaatar, a hectic and quirky town with an unpredictable charm, slowly waking up from the Soviet era. Enjoy the interesting mix of mongol nomads, monasteries and gers. Day 15 - Transfer to Terelj National Park and Ger Camp Today you will be transferred to Ger Camp just a few kilometres outside of the city where you will sleep in traditional felt huts known as "gers" used by nomads. Enjoy some time in nature in the beautiful Terelj National Park to learn how to ride with local horsemen and explore the countryside with its expansive and serene landscapes. Overnight in Ger Camp. Day 16 - Terelj National Park Free Day Enjoy a free day for optional activities in Terelj National Park like taking a hike through the steppe to reach Turtle Rock. Overnight in Ger Camp. Day 17 - Ger Camp & Return to Ulaanbaatar Depart Ger Camp today and say goodbye to the nomadic way of life in nature. Return to the city of Ulaanbaatar. Day 18 - Depart Ulaanbaatar by Train Hop back on the train today for a ride through the Gobi Desert, crossing into the border to China,

Day 19 - Arrival to Beijing Despite its chaotic, noisy personality, Beijing has an underlying charm that will welcome you to discover its unique streets, temples, nightclubs, shops and sights. Take a free day to explore on your own and slip into a Buddhist temple for a quiet escape from the chaos. Discover the city's unique hutongs and charming neighborhoods for a peek into local life. Taste fresh Chinese food from delicious street stands serving up piping hot dishes of Peking Duck. Day 20 - Beijing Free Day Enjoy your last free day in Beijing and do some last-minute souvenir shopping. Go out by night and say goodbye to Asia and your new friends made on this incredible adventure. Day 21 - End of Trip Today your trip will come to an end with unforgettable memories of your Trans Siberian Train Adventure as you check out of your hotel in the morning.
