3 Lucerne in facts Capital of Lucerne canton inhabitants (with urban area ) A tourist city since the 19 th century (Most famous tourist attraction is the Chapel Bridge) Famous for its Carnival (Fasnacht) 3 universities Language: Swiss-German (Official languages in Switzerland: German, French, Italian, Romansh) Switzerland s most business-friendly Canton (unemployment rate 3%)

4 Lucerne in the heart of Europe Lucerne is excellently connected to the rest of Europe by train 45 min to Zurich 3 hours to Geneva 3.5 hours to Milan 5 hours to Paris 6 hours to Munich 6 hours to Salzburg 7 hours to Brussels One hour flight to many other European cities (London, Vienna, Amsterdam etc.)

5 A vibrant city with long history Lucerne has everything you need, yet it is small enough to walk or bike around the city Lucerne is proud of its traditions (Carnival), but at the same time known for modern festivals The city has a large variety of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops

10 Forms of learning Tutorials The focus of the study is on tutorials with 16 to 25 students in a group Lectures Few courses are held in large lectures halls Practical experience 25 % of the studies are professional studies (practical experience in schools, mentoring groups) From the first week students are at schools to get to know the practical side of the study

15 Informationsveranstaltung Buddy program Every international student is matched with a Swiss student already before the exchange period Buddies are there to help you with every day life in Switzerland There are organized trips with international students and buddies Buddy will show you around in Lucerne (campus, cultural events etc.) and help you to meet more people in Switzerland!

16 16 Costs Switzerland is a country that offers a high quality of life, therefore it is an expensive country. Students need around Euro per month.
