4 GENERAL PURPOSE APPLICATIONS Solenoid 9130C, 9150C: These solenoids include a mating connector. Together, the molded coil and connector combination complies with NEMA 4 specifications. A spring clip secures the solenoid / connector assembly to the valve. The electrical connection is made through the three integral solenoid prongs (2 power, 1 ground), once the solenoid is plugged into the connector. The connection is then secured by tightening the screw provided with the unit. Consult Herion for solenoid voltages or arrangements not found in this brochure. General Purpose Connector: A standard cable clamp connector is included with the and.9150c solenoid. Optional connectors may be selected from the table below. Solenoids 3826 & 3827: HAZARDOUS DUTY, EXPLOSION PROOF (for North America) Electric Schematic Designed to be used with 1/2 NPT mating conduit. These solenoids meet Type 4X, 7, 9 enclosure requirements and are rated for a 100% duty cycle. They comply with insulation class H (180º C) and are for use in Class I, Div. 1, Groups A, B, C, D; Class II, Div. 1, Groups E, F, G, hazardous locations. The solenoids are attached to the valve with a solenoid retaining nut. The electrical connection is made through 3 wire leads, each 18 long. The two red leads are for power; the third wire (green with yellow stripe) is the ground. Note: Power leads (red) are not polarity sensitive. See Figure 2 for dimensions. Solenoid 9136: HAZARDOUS DUTY, EXPLOSION PROOF (for Europe) For applications requiring conformance to the international CENELEC hazardous area ( explosion proof ) approval standards, the Click-on solenoid system offers solenoid model number The particular CENELEC class rating specification for this solenoid is EEx mii T4. The m designation specifies an encapsulated solenoid, which features a 3 meter long cable assembly in place of the standard DIN style connector, to conform to the hazardous area design requirements. This particular classification specifies that this solenoid is permissible for use in all designated gas groups, and will reach a maximum surface temperature of 135º C (275º F). 4

6 LOW POWER SOLENOID COIL DESIGN (2 WATT) Solenoid With the demand for lower power consumption (particularly for use in relay and PLC control applications), the Click-on solenoid system offers solenoid model number This solenoid design features an inherently low power consumption design of 2 watts in the VDC configuration, and 4 VA in the VAC configuration. Please note in sizes greater than 1 (1-1/4, 1-1/2, and 2 ), the maximum pressure achievable with this low power solenoid is 85 psi (instead of the usual 230 psi with solenoid 9150C, or 150 psi with solenoid 9130C). LATCHING COIL DESIGN Function: A permanent magnet is mounted in the core tube so that after switching the valve from normally closed to open with a short pulse of power (typically 30 ms.), the current consumption goes to zero. To close the valve a voltage with reverse polarity is applied to neutralize the magnetic force. Contact factory for more information.
