2 Foreword Following the success of the 2009 edition in Coimbra and the 2008 and 2007 editions in Porto and Lisbon, the city of Lisbon welcomes you to the 2010/2011 SES Workshop that will gather for the fourth time the faculty and students from all the schools engaged on the Sustainable Energy Systems focus area of the MIT-Portugal Program: MIT, IST, ISEG, FCUL, FEUP, FCTUC, and FEUC. Purpose: To familiarize, update and move forward SES research topics representing the main areas of effort within the Sustainable Energy Systems focus area of the MIT-Portugal program. Expected Outcome: Map of students - faculty research teams and activities. Develop project plans for 2011 research activities. Reinforce bounds across all students and faculty. Participation: SES students (first, second, third and fourth years) and Faculty.

6 Arrival and Transportation Trains If you will come to Lisbon by train you will arrive to Estação do Oriente, in Parque das Nações. There you could take the Metro (Red Line) to Alameda station (connection with green line), São Sebastião Station (Connection with the blue line) or Saldanha station (connection with the yellow line). Bus and Tram - (from: 6.30 a.m p.m.) The following Buses have a stop near IST: 7,16, 22, 40, 767, 718, 720 The following buses have a stop near ISEG: 706, 727, 713, 773, 60, 794/ Trams: 28, 25, 15, 18 The following buses have a stop near FCUL: 7, 21, 31, 35, 36, 47, 54, 64, 78, 83, 106, 108, 701, 732, 738, 745, 750, 755, 767, 768, 777, 780 Metro - (from 6.30 a.m. to 1 a.m) The Lisbon metro has 4 lines (Red, Blue, Yellow and Green) that cover the city. There are two metro stations near IST: Saldanha (yellow line) and Alameda (green and red lines). Both are about five min. walk of IST. The nearest metro stations to ISEG (Rato, yellow line and Cais do Sodré, green line) are about 10 min. walk.
