4 Research Report on Instrumental/Vocal Music Tuition in Private and State Schools Part 2: Detailed Findings from Instrumental/Vocal Music Survey of Private Schools, conducted in association with the Music Masters and Mistresses Association (MMA). Findings reported 1 June 2006 Sources An online questionnaire was ed to 176 members of The MMA. A further reference was made to the questionnaire in the MMA journal, Ensemble. In some sections of this report comparative data have been used from the Survey of Local Authorities Music Services 2005, issued by the DfES (Research Report RR700). This survey was based on responses received from all but one Music Service, a total of 149. Where such data have been included they are shown in shaded columns. 1. For Private Schools, the calculation is based on the 986 Full Time Equivalent teachers in the 95 responding schools shown above. 2. In the DfES 2005 Survey, only 23 of the 149 responding Music Services answered this particular question.
