Upon completing the course you may receive a letter grade or a Pass/Fail ACADEMIC EDUCATION My name is Sabrina Ramirez and I stopped attending school after 8th grade. My mother tried her best to force me to go to school; she begged, yelled, and even called the police on me, but I did not listen to her. I was out of control. I ran away from home and was a missing child. I was featured on the television news stations in an attempt for my family to find me. I ran away to Mexico when I was 15 years old, and it was a horrible experience. I had no friends, and no one to communicate with, I felt completely useless. I found out I was pregnant and that caused me to start thinking right. I thought to myself, What am I doing here? I then decided to make important changes. I wanted to return to the U.S. to have our baby, and I really wanted to finish high school. Making the decision to finish school was worth the time it took to earn the entire 180 credits. I had a wonderful experience at Clovis Adult. I had a lot of support from my teachers, administrators, and staff members. Thank you to my teachers, Kayce Reitz and Kerri Nevills, for always being there and supporting me. I could not have done any of this without the support and help from my family. It s never too late to go back to school. Everything in life that has value must be earned. Whether you re 18 or 80, do not let excuses get in the way of your future. If there is anyone who does not have their high school diploma, what are you waiting for? 15
