POLICIES AND PROCEDURES Sexual Harassment Policy: The Governing Board prohibits sexual harassment of or by any student or employee. This policy applies to conduct during and relating to school and school sponsored activities. Sexual harassment is inappropriate and offensive. All students have a right to be educated in an environment free from sexual harassment. All School District employees have a right to work in an environment free from sexual harassment. Prohibited sexual harassment includes, but is not limited to, unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal, visual or physical conduct of a sexual nature. The Board encourages and expects a student to report incidents of sexual harassment to any teacher, counselor, or administrator at the school site immediately. Information is available in the office. Please refer to our website for the following Policies and Procedures: Attendance Grading Policy Transfer Policy Student Conduct Refund Policy Complaint/Grievance Procedure Refund Policy It is the intent of Clovis Adult Education to have a fair and equitable policy for the refund of registration fees in the event that the class is cancelled or the student does not plan to attend. Fees collected in advance of classes or programs cancelled by CAE will be refunded within 45 days of the planned start date of the class or program cancelled. No written notice by student is required. If fees are collected in advance of a program start date, and the student does not begin class or withdraws on the first day of class, a full refund minus a processing fee of $25.00 per class will be issued. Receipt is required for all refund and transfer of fees. No refunds are issued after second class session. A Student seeking to appeal this policy must submit a signed letter of rationale for the appeal, along with payment verification, to the CAE school principal/director for review. The student will receive a determination notice from the CAE principal/director within 14 calendar days. ALL REFUNDS WILL BE PROCESSED WITHIN 45 DAYS WITH PROOF OF PAYMENT

Want to update your skills? Clovis Adult Education offers full certificate programs and individual classes that are designed for your success. Certificates are available in: Computer Technology Administrative Support Health Care Careers Floral Design HOW DO I GET STARTED? It s easy to register for Career Technical Education classes. The FIRST step is to meet with our Career Counselor, by attending one of our Program Informational Meetings. They are held every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in room A-5. This initial meeting will give you program information and answer all your questions! No informational meetings on 8/19/14, 11/11/14 or 11/25/14. No Career Technical classes held on 9/1/14, 11/11/14 and 11/24-28/14. No appointment necessary to attend. The SECOND step is to make an appointment to begin the enrollment process, which includes: Placement Testing Registration/Orientation Registration payment is due upon registration. Clovis Adult Education accepts cash, checks, VISA and Mastercard. Students being sponsored by an outside agency such as: Workforce Connection, Department of Rehablilitation, CalWORKS or PELL funding must contact our Agency Coordinator after registration to verify approval. Career and Technical Education (CTE) GRADING POLICY Some CTE classes are graded Pass/No Pass with 75% being the minimum passing grade. Lecture classes utilize a percentage formula as follows: % = A 89-80% = B 79-70% = C Students must have a minimum of 75% to receive a passing grade. CAReER TECHNICAL EDUCATION All CTE classes require a high school diploma from an accredited institution or a GED, and placement testing to enroll. These post-secondary classes have a Refund Policy. 6 Career Technical Education Office: A2 (559) CAREER CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION 8 ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT Upon satisfactory completion of this course sequence, students will receive a certificate in Administrative Support. Completion of this program takes 6-10 months and will cost approximately $2800, including books. This program qualifies for Financial Aid. Pre-Employment Preparation Keyboarding Information Technology includes MS Office 2010: Windows/Internet Word Excel Access PowerPoint Outlook Office Accounting QuickBooks For The Office Assistant Business Communications Office Procedures/Customer Service ADMINISTRATIVE MEDICAL ASSISTANT The Administrative Medical Assistant is involved in general office duties as well as appointment and surgery scheduling, insurance billing and claims, and medical records. This program also provides training in office and computer skills. Upon satisfactory completion of this course sequence, students will receive a certificate in Administrative Medical Assisting. Completion of this program takes months and will cost approximately $3480, including books. This program qualifies for Financial Aid. Nurse Assistant Pathway This program upon completion will provide the student with several career opportunities as a Certified Nursing Assistant. The pathways program is a 7 month course that includes: Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, Restorative Nursing, Acute Care and Medical Terminology. The Medical Terminology in this program will provide students with credit for one prerequisite for those who choose to continue on into the Vocational Nursing Program. This program will provide dedicated individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to complete the course and pass the Nurse Assistant Certification Exam. The student will secure entry employment within the medical profession as well as advance skills to work multiple disciplines in your profession. As a Certified Nurse Assistant you can work at Long Term Care Facilities as a Home Health Aide or one may choose to work at an agency within the community with higher wages paid. As a Restorative Aide, you have the opportunity to work in Long Term Care with an Occupational Therapist and a Physical Therapist. The program also provides higher level skills for working in the Acute Care Community Hospitals. Program Cost: $4500 Plus books and supplies. Financial Aid is available for students who qualify. The Nurse Assistant Pathway class is scheduled to begin on February 10, 2015 and will end on August 31, Class Starts at 8:00 and is held Monday thru Friday. ***Your NA Pathway application must be turned into the Nursing office and the Level D TABE Test must be completed by November 17, 2014 Nurse Assistant Pathway Requirements High school Diploma or GED Please see Program Requirement Grid on page 14 Note: Any person that has been convicted of any felony or misdemeanor (other than a minor traffic violation) may not register or take the current class offering unless they have obtained a criminal conviction clearance in writing prior to class orientation. Contact the enforcement consultant at Title 42 Code of Federal Regulations, Part , section. Home Health Aide (Online registration is available on July 30, 2014) The next available Home Health Aide class is scheduled to begin January 20, Classes are held Tuesday thru Friday for the first week consisting of 20 hours of classroom instruction (7:30am-12:30pm) and then Monday thru Thursday the following week consisting of 20 hours of clinical training (6:30am 12:00pm). Students will receive a Home Health Aide certificate of completion and receive state licensure. Pre-registration and payment of $270 with Malpractice Insurance included is required for this class. You will purchase your book on the first day of class. The cost of the book is approximately $30. You must have a current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification and a Basic Life Support American Heart CPR card, a physical clearance and proof of TB clearance not more than 6 months old to attend this class. You must have all health requirements submitted by the 1st day of theory and students are required to wear a white uniform and white nursing shoes. You will be asked to show your CNA Certification and CPR card on the first day of class. Bring a copy of both. Physical forms are available on our website or in the Nursing Office. CLINICAL MEDICAL ASSISTANT Back Office The Clinical Medical Assistant aids physicians by doing routine examination and treatment tasks including laboratory procedures, vital signs, injections and more. Upon satisfactory completion of this course sequence, students will receive a certificate in Clinical Medical Assisting. Completion of this program takes 6 months and will cost approximately $4200, including books. This program qualifies for Financial Aid. Vocational Nurse Clovis Adult Education s Vocational Nurse program has been accredited by the Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to work in today s advanced technical health care environment. At CAE you will encounter standards of excellence throughout your training. Upon completion you will qualify to take the National Council Licensure Examination. CAE adheres to the BVNPT s requirements for LVN Licensure. Please see the website: for further information. Upon completion of the Vocational Nurse program CAE students may articulate to the Registered Nurse program at Fresno City College. Please contact Fresno City College at The next available Vocational Nurse class is scheduled to begin on January 8, Students attend 3 days a week for a period of 18 months of instruction. Theory classes are held 7:30am - 4:00pm and clinical is held 6:30am - 3:30pm (days will vary). All students are responsible for fees, textbooks and supplies. The total program will cost approximately $15,000. Financial Aid is available for the students who qualify.
