GENERALITIES 1.1 OBJECT The following organization standard refers to the sleeve film (transparent or colored, imprinted or not), obtained from low density polyethylene (STAS 8179/2-75), through the extrusion-blowing on circular vent process. 1.2 THE DOMAIN OF APPLICATION Low density polyethylene films are used for: - manufacturing different packages (purses, bags, sacks, euro pallets covers); - waterproof insulating (in industrial and civil constructions); - protecting outdoors crops. Low density polyethylene films are delivered oblate, laterally folded or unfolded. 1.3 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS This organization standard refers to the next Romanian standards: - STAS 8179/2 75 Granulated low density polyethylene. 3 1.4 NOTING AND CODIFICATION Within the society there is a codification system, made of 16 characters, which give complete information about that product. The code is divided in five different segments: - the characters 1 and 2 symbolize the mark of the product; - the characters 3, 4, 5 and 6 refer to the width of the product, in millimetres; - the characters 7, 8 and 9 distinguish the thickness, in microns; - the characters 10, 11 and 12 indicate the dimension of the fold, in millimetres; - the characters 13, 14, 15 and 16 symbolize the length of the product, in millimetres. If a product is not characterized by a certain dimension (especially length or fold dimension), those characters are filled with 0. For example: GN means: GLIA transparent film with 2400 mm width, 100 µm thick; GN means: GLIA transparent film with 4200 mm width, 140 µm thick and a fold of 450 mm; EH means: euro pallets covers with 1500 mm width, 150 µm thick, a fold of 650 mm and 2000 mm length; PP means: bags with 200 mm width, 300 µm thick and 300 mm length. 1.4 REPRESENTATIVE TYPES; ASSORTMENTS In accordance with its use, the low density polyethylene films are delivered in the following types: - type I, for easy products presentation, sale and wrapping packages, 0,025 to 0,045 mm thick; - type II, for general use (purses, bags, thin sacks, sacks for chemical fertilisers repacked in raffia sacks, covers for construction coverings, waterproof insulations) 0,045 to 0,250 mm thick; - type III, of great resistance (industrial sacks used for chemicals fertilisers packaging without protection package), 0,250 to 0,320 mm thick;

4 - type IV, for agricultural covering, 0,100 to 0,160 mm thick. 1.5 STANDARDISED LIFE TIME Low density polyethylene films have a standardised life time of 6 months, in normal conditions of usage. Anti UV films used for agricultural coverings have a standardised life time of 12 months, in normal conditions of usage. 2. TECHNICAL CONDITIONS OF QUALITY 2.1 MATERIALS Low density polyethylene films are made of polyethylene granules: - PIP A-2-2-FM-A/002 NATUR AMB M001346ZO, used for producing type I and II films; - PIP A-2-3-F-B/035 NATUR AMB M001106MO, used for producing type II, III and IV films; - PIP A-2-2-B-A/006 NATUR AMB M001186HO, used for producing type II films; - PIP A-22/BA004 AMB ARI M001165XO, used for producing type II films. 2.2 SHAPES AND DIMENSIONS Low density polyethylene films are delivered in the dimensions and deviations determined on the table 1 and 2: Oblate sleeve film width (mm) Deviations (mm) Until 400 ± ± ± 15

The film for sacks used for chemical fertilisers packaging must have thickness deviations between 0,020 and +0,040 mm. 2.3 TECHNICAL, MECANICAL AND PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS. It can be admitted longitudinal stripes and easy wrinkles form folding. The film must detach easily. 7 3.1 TYPE VERIFICATIONS They will be made when the product is homologate, when the fabrication technology is changed or when the row material is changed. The type tests are performed once a year and anytime at the beneficiary request. Type and lot verifications correspond with those on table LOT VERIFICATIONS The size of a lot is determined by the supplied row material, by the manufacturing installation and by the continuity of production. It is considered to be a production lot the quantity of film manufactured of the same lot of supplied row material, on the same installation and continuously. The size of a lot is maximum 30 tones of film or pieces. 4. METHODS OF VERIFICATION 4.1 DIMENSIONS VERIFICATIONS WIDTH VERIFICATIONS The width of the films is measured with a ruler or roulette, with 1 mm precision. For measurement, the film is laid on a plane and rigid surface in such manner that the extremities are free from tension. The result is considered to be the arithmetical average of three measurements made at distances of approximate 250 mm THICKNESS VERIFICATIONS The thickness is checked accordingly with STAS , method A, with the micrometer with screw, having the following characteristics: - measurement surface: 25 mm 2 ; - pressure force: 7,5 N; - measurement precision: ± 10 µm.

8 4.2 COLOR AND ASPECT VERIFICATION The aspect and color is visually checked, by comparison with the standard sample. 4.3 OPACITY VERIFICATION Is performed accordingly with STAS 8179/3 75, mentioning that the thickness of the test tubes is: - 0,01 mm for type I film; - 0,15 mm for type IV film. 4.4 TENSILE STRENGHT AND ELONGATION AT BREAK VERIFICATION Is performed accordingly with STAS , with the following mentions: - the test is made on film; - type II test tubes; - testing speed: 500 ± 10 mm/min. 4.5 IMPACT RESISTANCE VERIFICATION Accordingly with STAS , method A. 5. MARKING, PACKING, TRANSPORT, STORAGE AND ACCOMPANYING DOCUMENTS 5.1 MARKING On each wrapper is applied a label with the following specifications: - the trademark of the producing enterprise; - the name of the product and the type; - the width and the thickness of the film; - the number of the lot; - the fabrication date;

9 - the signature and the stamp of the controller; - the number from the production register. 5.2 PACKING Shrink films are being rolled on cardboard or PVC tubes with the inner diameter of min. 75 mm. The rolls must be from the same color and type of film, correctly and tightly rolled. Each roll or pack of film is labelled with adhesive tape and etiquette accordingly with the trademark and is packed in polyethylene covers, sealed to assure protection at handling, storage and transport. 5.3 TRANSPORT The transport of polyethylene films rolls is made with covered and clean vehicles. Handling rolls or packages of polyethylene films is done carefully so that the product is not harmed (using the forklift). 5.4 STORAGE Rolls or packages are being stored in covered store rooms, clean and dry, away from direct sunlight, at least 2 m away from any heat source. It is not permitted to put others materials on the stored rolls. The rolls can be stacked vertically on maximum five ranges, on transportation pallets. 5.5 SPECIFIC ACCCOMPANYING DOCUMENTS Each delivered lot must be followed by the quality certification paper, accordingly with the legal dispositions in vigour.

10 6. VALIDITY TERM The products presented in this standard have a validity period of 6 months from the fabrication date, if the packaging, storage and transport conditions are fulfilled.
