In this pack you will find: Information on Bronze, Silver and Gold DofE requirements Information on Chief Scout and Queens Scout Awards A Registration Form A programme of events for the next year. A Kit List We will be running an Introduction to the Duke of Edinburgh s Award evening on day 7 November 2016 at 7.30pm at Ruckinge Scout. All potential and their parents are welcome to come along to find out more about the award, and how we run it in Ashford District Scouts. To register for Bronze you need to be 13½, however, you can start training for your award as long as you will be 14 by 31 August For Silver, you need to be 15 to register, unless you have completed Bronze, in which case you can be registered from 14½ but in either case, you can start training from 14½. You need to be 16 to start your Gold DofE Award. In conjunction with your own unit leaders, we will also be supporting the Chief Scout Platinum and Diamond Awards, as well as The Queen s Scout Award. We will be offering 30 places on our DofE training programme, which starts on day 28 November 2016 at 7.30pm at Ruckinge Scout. If you would like to do your DofE with us, please complete and return the attached Registration Form, with payment, by day 28 November Our programme of events is enclosed. During the winter we will to talk to you to discuss your choices of Volunteering, Skills and Physical Activities. We will continue to monitor and support each of these activities until they are signed off. We can do this online with the edofe website. We will be running a training programme to make you ready for the Practice and Qualifying expeditions, which are organised and assessed by Kent County Scouts. The Practice is in the summer and the Qualifying is in the autumn. It is really important you come to every training session as otherwise you may miss vital information, and to bring everything with you that you are asked to. The training weekend and the route planning days are essential and if you do not attend, we cannot sign off those stages of your training for you to continue to the next event. Ashford District Explorer Scouts is a non-profit making organisation, and all the leaders give their time voluntarily. So cover the cost of equipment, use of halls, camp fees and other expenses we do have to charge for your DofE expeditions. Costs are shown on the programme. Additionally, nearer the time, you will have to buy your food for expeditions. If you have any questions, do feel free to contact Gill or Paul by phone, text or .
