5 Polycom Unified Communications for Cisco Environments Introduction Polycom is pleased to announce the Wave 7 release of Polycom Unified Communications for Cisco environments. What s in These Release Notes? In Wave 7, the Polycom Unified Communications for Cisco Environments release adds support for the following: Polycom RealPresence Group Series. Interoperability of Polycom products with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Video Conferencing Server (VCS), and Cisco Jabber for Windows. Polycom supports updated version of Cisco products within the supported architectures. Polycom is committed to updating support for new environments in future releases. Supported Deployment Models In Wave 7, the Polycom Unified Communications for Cisco Environments release adds support for the following: Direct Registration of Polycom RealPresence Systems with CUCM Polycom RealPresence SIP Integration with CUCM Polycom RealPresence Integration with VCS Polycom CMA H323 Integration with CUCM Direct Registration of Polycom RealPresence Systems with CUCM When you SIP register your Polycom telepresence endpoints directly with CUCM, you have a single source for call admission control and bandwidth management. Cisco endpoints can also use telephony functions like hold, transfer and so on when on calls with Polycom endpoints. When Polycom telepresence endpoints have the TIP option key installed, they can participate in calls with Cisco CTS endpoints and Cisco Multipoint Control Units (MCUs) that are TIP-capable. The RMX system also inherently supports hosting TIP conference calls and can be licensed to handle Immersive Telepresence multipoint conferences. 1
6 Polycom Unified Communications for Cisco Environments Release Notes Wave 7 Polycom RealPresence Platform SIP Integration with CUCM You can configure the Polycom Distributed Media Application (DMA ) system as a SIP proxy and registrar for your video environment. When you use the DMA system as a SIP peer to CUCM, it can host video calls between Cisco endpoints that are registered with Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Polycom SIP and H.323 endpoints that are registered with the DMA system. Polycom RealPresence Platform Integration with VCS You can configure the Polycom DMA system as a SIP proxy and registrar for your video environment. When you use the DMA system as a SIP peer to VCS, it can host video calls between Cisco endpoints that are registered with VCS and Polycom SIP endpoints or MCUs that are registered with the DMA system. Polycom CMA H323 Integration with CUCM When you register your Polycom components with Polycom CMA system, bandwidth, and call admission control is split between the CMA system and Cisco Unified Communications Manager. Audio and video calls are supported into Polycom RealPresence infrastructure. A Polycom CMA system also fully manages your Polycom components and you can take advantage of CMA provisioning with dynamic management. For deployment details, see Chapter 6: Using a Polycom CMA System as a Gatekeeper in the Polycom Unified Communications Deployment Guide for Cisco Environments, wave 5. Note: No Longer Tested by Polycom Polycom no longer tests the Polycom CMA system with the most recent versions of either Polycom or Cisco products. When necessary, Polycom technical support may require customers to test reported issues on the supported minimum versions. Polycom-Enabled Unified Communications Support Polycom Implementation and Maintenance services provide support for Polycom solution components only. Additional services for supported third-party Unified Communications (UC) environments integrated with Polycom solutions are available from Polycom Global Services, and its certified Partners, to help customers successfully design, deploy, optimize and manage Polycom unified communications within their third-party UC environments. 7 Polycom Unified Communications for Cisco Environments Polycom-enabled Unified Communications Supported Configurations Table 1 shows the minimum versions of Cisco and Polycom products that support the Wave 7 of Polycom Unified Communications for Cisco environments. When necessary, Polycom technical support may require customers to test reported issues on the supported minimum versions listed. Polycom no longer tests the Polycom CMA system with the most recent versions of Cisco products. 9 Polycom Unified Communications for Cisco Environments Known Issues Refer to the Polycom product release notes for more information about the known issues related to the individual products and solution. Issue Number ATT-106 Description Delayed video on a point-to-point call from a CTS 3010 to a Polycom OTX when both endpoints are registered to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager. Workaround BRIDGE- 353 BRIDGE- 355 BRIDGE- 769 CSC-67 After RMX reboot, CTS rooms connected with problem on first attempt. Subsequent calls ok. Hold and Resume in RMX conference displays local video (like MLA not running) with 2 CTS3010. Hold and Resume from CTS in dial in RMX conference still shows content on h.323 HDX. Resume results in no audio/video on HDX. In calls hosted by the Cisco Telepresence Multipoint Switch that involve both Polycom ITP endpoints and a Cisco CTS system, the Cisco CTS video displays poorly. CSC-68 In a point-to-point call between a Polycom OTX system and a Cisco CTS 1300, the Cisco CTS cannot receive quality audio from the OTX. CSC-69 When a Cisco CTS and a Polycom HDX are both registered to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager, a point-to-point call between the two ends when the CTS places the call on hold and tries to resume. None CSC-71 In a point-to-point 384k SIP call between a Polycom HDX 8006 and a Cisco Sx20 that are both registered to the Polycom DMA, neither endpoint can receive video. CSC-86 HDX dialing into Cisco TPS via h.323 shows choppy video with packet loss. CSC-87 Group Series & HDX P2P with Cisco Jabber for Windows loses audio after 4 seconds into call. CSC-91 HDX P2P with Cisco Jabber for Windows loses audio after 4 seconds into call GS-1560 Group Series connects with H.263 video instead of H.264 video. GS When a RealPresence Group system is registered using SIP to a DMA server and a Cisco SX20 is registered to a DMA gatekeeper, video does not display. Workaround: Register the Realpresence Group system to the DMA gatekeeper and place the call again. When in a call taking place on the Cisco TelePresence Server, the Polycom HDX does not correctly display the call format in the call statistics OTX: A site sharing content must stop sharing content before the next can share. In a point-to-point call between a Polycom RPX that is registered to a Polycom DMA system and a Cisco CTS that is registered to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager. The Polycom RPX incorrectly displays the far site as an HDX7000 in the call statistics. 5
10 Polycom Unified Communications for Cisco Environments Release Notes Wave H.323 calls between the Cisco CTS systems registered to Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Polycom HDX or ITP systems registered to the Cisco IOS gatekeeper show poor video for the first few seconds of a call VNGR Resume not working from Cisco phones to HDX systems. HDX version and TP Tool version no longer match up. HDX is and TP Tool is Group Series dropping from dial out Cisco TPS conference due to "unspecified error". HDX dial in to RMX displays call stats for Far Site System as: ;party=called;screen=yes;privacy=off. HDX to & From Cisco Jabber for Windows; HDX's unable to display content stream sent from Cisco Jabber. TIP not reflected in call statistics: HDX shows SIP (TIP). HDX to &From Cisco Jabber for Windows; HDX's unable to display content stream sent from Cisco Jabber Cannot send content from Cisco Jabber for Windows to HDX (can send to another Cisco endpoint). ITP rooms not using 1080P at 1080P line rates in pt to pt calls (ITP to ITP or ITP to CTS). ITP rooms not using 1080P at 1080P line rates in pt to pt calls (ITP to ITP or ITP to CTS) When a Polycom HDX and Cisco CTS participate on a call hosted by a Polycom RMX system that is registered to a Polycom DMA system, the Gathering Phase screen is pixelated. VNGR CESC / W6 / Cisco / RRI / OTX displaying local video in dial in room switch conference. CTS sees OTX fine. Third attempt was fine. VNGR In a Cisco Unified Communications Manager environment where the RMX system and both Polycom ITP endpoints, and Cisco CTS 1300 are all registered to the CUCM, the CTS 1300 sometimes gets dropped from a multipoint call. 6
