1 Description The Youth Hostel in Nicosia is housed at a restored classical building, located at Chrysaliniotissis street, opposite from the Panagia Chrysaliniotissa church, in the Old town of Nicosia. The Hostel is run by the Youthboard of Cyprus, a semi-governmental organization. The Υouth Hostel can house up to 20 people, in 5 rooms of 4 beds each. All rooms have en suite toilets and showers. The hostel features a person conference room for use by the Hostel s residents and/or organized youth groups free of charge. In the same building, there is an info Point with free internet access and various information regarding Nicosia, Cyprus, etc. The Youth Hostel Team Page 1

2 Frequently asked questions 1) Who can stay at the Hostel? Young people up to 35 years of age (proof of identity is required). Older people that are either official guests of the Cyprus Youthboard AB and Nicosia Municipality (official invitation is required) or when they are up to 4 organized youth groups leaders, accompanying young people under 35 years of age. 2) How much does the accommodation cost per night? Individuals 10 per person, per bed per night. Organized youth groups that are members of the Cyprus Youthboard AB, Special Needs groups 5 per person, per bed per night. Please note that there is an additional 15 deposit per person, when you check-in for beddings, towels and locker keys. You will receive this amount back with the successful return of said items upon check-out. The Youth Hostel Team Page 2

3 3) I own the European Youth Card. Do I deserve a discount? Yes! Owners of the European Youth Card / Euro<26 ( get a 50% off discount if they send us a copy of their card, or if they present their card at the reception during their check-in. So, owners of the card pay 5 per bed per night. 4) How long can I stay in the Hostel? Maximum amount of stay is 15 days. 5) How can I reserve a bed? Contact us via or phone, to check if there are available beds for the dates you're interested, and we will inform you about the possible methods of payment. 6) Is it possible to stay without a reservation? There is chance to stay in the Hostel without a reservation or a provisional booking. In this case you will have to pay during your check-in at the The Youth Hostel Team Page 3

4 Hostel s reception. Please note that for payments at the reception we accept only cash (no cheque or credit-card payments). However, we cannot guarantee bed availability for last minute's arrivals. 7) What are the Hostel s working hours? Monday to Sunday, and local time The rest of the day there are security guards. The Hostel is closed on Public Holidays, but still there are security guards, if there are guests staying. 8) Which are the check-in hours? 9) Which are the check-out hours? You can check-in at any time, even if you are planning to arrive during the nonworking hours of the Hostel. In any case, we will make sure that there will be a member of our team, or at least a security guard waiting for you in the Hostel for your check-in. Strictly speaking, the check-out time is till 10:30 a.m. If you are planning to leave the hostel later, you can empty your room and leave your luggage at the reception for the rest of the day. 5 However, if there are plenty of available beds, and no reservations made for the day of your check-out, then you may stay in your room and check out at any time as long as you inform the staff. Even during the non-working hours of the Hostel, you can arrange your check-out and the return of your deposit money with the security guard. 10) Where is the Hostel located? Our address is Chrysaliniotissis Str., 1017 Nicosia, (ex. Zemenides Mansion) (downtown) If you need a more specific map just type Youth Hostel Nicosia in google maps, or go directly to here. The hostel is located in the South part of Nicosia, so keep that in mind when you view the google maps. 11) Is the Hostel located in the North part of Nicosia? No, the hostel is located in the South Nicosia, in the Republic of Cyprus, meaning the free part. We re just pretty close to the North part. 12)How can I get there? The Youth Hostel Team Page 5

6 Here you can see a rough map which leads you (either by car or by feet) from the main bus terminal to our hostel. We are 20 minutes away from the main bus station. If you get lost just call us on to give you directions. The Youth Hostel Team Page 6

7 Other Useful information: Sheets, linen, towels, room and locker keys will be provided to the residents during check-in, after paying 15 as a deposit which will be refunded to them during check-out and successful returning of all the above items. The Hostel gets cleaned during every day. Sheets are changed upon departure or every week. The Hostel holds no responsibility for any loses. Sound devices can be used discretely but are not permitted at all during 13:00 16:00 and 22:00 09:00 A coin operated vending machine is available for drinks and snacks. There is also a shared kitchen, with all the necessary facilities (fridge, microwave, dish washer, coffee machine and toaster). The whole building is covered by free wireless internet access. 8 Useful information about Cyprus Weather: check it out e.g. on Electricity: Cyprus has the 240 Volt/ 50 Hz 3 pin electricity plus so you will definitely need adaptors.
