3 Luwa Filtrasept ceiling unit The Luwa Filtrasept with built-in HEPA filter is designed to provide air filtration and distribution in one unit. Viruses, bacteria and dust particles are filtered out of the airstream immediately ahead of the air distribution element. The risks and disadvantages associated with central system filtration, for example, cross contamination in the ventilation ducts, are therefore eliminated. manually operated shut-off valve (accessory) Application The Luwa Filtrasept is used wherever clean air or a germ free atmosphere is needed, as for example in: Hospitals: conventional operating theatres and operating side rooms, intensive care, sterile zones, isolation stations, etc. Industry: pharmaceutical, food and electronic industry and Laboratories: clean zones and working places, exhaust air filtration of toxic aerosols. perforated plate Ultrafilter type PL Ultrafilter type CR Ultrafilter type N ceiling diffusor (2 or 4 sides) swirl diffusor Construction The Filtrasept casing is a white epoxy powder coated welded mild steel unit. It is supplied with corrosion proof fittings to hold the HEPA filter and diffusor in place. The air is supplied through a circular, side mounted spigot into which a shut off damper, air tight to DIN 1946, may be fitted, and is accessible from the room side. shut-off valve (accessory) valve drive (accessory) The Luwa Filtrasept can be supplied with two-way, four-way or swirl diffusors, fitted through a simple central attachment or with perforated plates, fitted with 4 corner screws or hinches. The standard colour for these elements is white (RAL 9010 for the perforated plates, RAL 9002 for the diffusors). Other colours are available on request. All casings are fitted with both pressure drop and seal leak test connections. Both are accessible from the room side once the air distribution element is removed. The filter may then be tested to DIN 1946 using the Luwa seal test instrument. Installation The Luwa Filtrasept can be installed in all conventional ceiling systems. The separate Luwa brochure Installation and Maintenance Instructions..., No , contains all further information. When installing Filtrasepts fitted with diffusers care should be taken in the design to ensure they are located far enough away from walls, pillars and other air distribution units to prevent disruption of the air flow pattern. Filtrasept-Combinations Luwa Filtrasepts with perforated plates can be installed immediately adjacent to each other in combination to cover large areas. Factory prepared combinations are also available. 3

Installation and assembly The Filtrasept wall unit is fitted to both the wall and the air duct. It is designed to be easily fitted to either walls or partitions using the wall frame, available as an extra. See the Luwa Filtrasept Installation and Maintenance Instructions leaflet, No for detailed information. Conctruction The Filtrasept casing consists of tight welded sheet steel and is epoxy powder coated in white. It has a flange bent outwards on the room side and inwards on the duct side. It contains all parts necessary for the safe and simple installation of Luwa fine dust or HEPA filters, in corrosion- and disinfectant-proof finish. Either white epoxy powder-lacquered (RAL 9010) special perforated plates or outlet grilles with blades adjustable on two sides are used as air distributing elements. These elements are fixed to the casing with two screws hidden from the outside and can be easily and quickly removed. All types of Filtrasept wall units may be supplied with an individual pressure measuring device, all CR and N types may additionally be equipped with a connection for the seal test. The connections are accessible from the room side once the air distribution element is removed. The filter can easily be tested to DIN 1946 using the Luwa seal test instrument (see page 8). It is suitable for checking all filters installed in a casing with built-in test groove (in accordance with DIN standard 1946, part 4). The set is handy and simple to operate. Operating instructions and a table of admissible air leakages for all Luwa filter types, in accordance with DIN standard 1946, are given on the casing. The sturdy casing contains a manometer (measuring range: 0 to 4000 Pa), a floating ball flow meter (measuring range 20 to 240 cm 3 /min. or cm 3 /min.) and a constant pressure air storage unit which keeps the required test pressure constant until it is emptied.
