NYCEDC Capital Division Expertise to Get the Job Done Right OUR PURPOSE OUR PEOPLE OUR PORTFOLIO
Leadership Message Completing construction projects in the City is always demanding, but NYCEDC s Capital Division lives for the challenge. Our energetic and talented staff is creative, hardworking, and knows how to get the job done right. Our Purpose is to be NYCEDC s primary project estimating, design, and building team. With a portfolio of over 75 projects valued at ~$5 billion, the group is extremely active. We assist and work in collaboration with a long list of clients and partner agencies. Our Team is comprised of a diverse staff of 30 engineers, architects, contracting professionals, and support staff. We are constantly seeking to refine our project delivery methods to increase speed, decrease cost, and improve quality. Our Mission is to channel the City s capital budget investments into design and construction projects that support economic development and create employment opportunities for all New Yorkers from diverse backgrounds. We also provide the physical infrastructure, facilities, and amenities that strengthen the City s competitive position and investments that build capacity within the City. Our success would not be possible without strong relationships with the design and building communities. The talent and hard work of our contractors and consultants help make all of our projects possible. We look forward to many more years of contributing to the growth of New York City. Thank you! Maria Torres-Springer President & CEO Emil J. Martone, AIA Executive Vice President
Our Purpose Know-how, commitment to excellence, the wherewithal and knowledge of the ins and outs of construction in New York City: that s what the Capital Division brings to any and every project. We are involved in the entire life cycle of our projects, from scoping and procurement to groundbreaking and ribbon cutting. We not only work on NYCEDC jobs but partner with other City organizations and agencies, lending our expertise to ensure that projects are completed on time and on budget. The Capital Division helps fuel the City s economy, promoting business growth, creating jobs, and improving the quality of life. For us, it s more than doing the job, it s doing the job right. Our Highlights Staten Island Water Siphon Rockaway Boardwalk Henry J. Carter Hospital
Our People Our team of engineers, architects, urban planners, landscape architects, and other professionals are among the best in their fields. We d like to introduce you to a few team members and the exciting projects they have led. Kathryn Prybylski Position: Hometown: Program of Study: Project: Assistant Vice President, Capital Program Brandon, MS Civil Engineering and Urban Design Rockaway Boardwalk Kathryn is a vital member of the project team simultaneously managing the accelerated opening of two phases in 2015 with design completion and ground breaking on later phases to ensure all 5.5 miles of boardwalk are open in 2016 and are replaced by The design makes for a sturdier and more resilient public amenity. The Rockaway Boardwalk has many facets: it fills childhood memories; it is a hip beach getaway; it is a daily spot for exercise and it is very much a backyard.
Sakiru Okeowo Position: Hometown: Program of Study: Project: Senior Project Manager, Capital Program Ogun State, Nigeria Civil Engineering and Construction Management Staten Island Water Siphon Sakiru was an integral member of the Water Siphon project team that helped ensure the project kept progressing despite complications experienced due to Superstorm Sandy. This tunnel will allow for a backup water main and a deeper harbor so the next generation of mega ships can enter New York Harbor. The Siphon is an important tunneling project. It feels great building this infrastructure that will serve generations to come.
Cindy Lo Position: Hometown: Program of Study: Project: Vice President, Capital Program Flushing, Queens Architecture Henry J. Carter Hospital Cindy played a key role in compressing the design and construction of the Henry J. Carter Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility to only 26 months to ensure it opened on time. The facility provided over 400,000 SF of new and renovated healthcare space in Harlem. It s exciting and inspiring to be a part of delivering a new state of the art nursing facility and a renovated long-term acute care facility to the City s healthcare system.
