2 You are now a proud owner of a Bonair camping trailer. You will find his booklet how to enjoy and take care of your tent-trailer. PRE-DELIVERY Hitch requirements To safely tow your new camper, you'll require the proper hitch. You must use a class two weight carrying hitch with a 2" ball rated to carry to 250 pds and to tow up to 2,000 pds on all models starting from BA 850. On Bonair BA 700 a class one hitch with a 1 7 / 8 ball rated to carry up to 150 pds and to tow up to 1800 pds is large enough. Do not tow with a weight distributing hitch unless the equalizing rods or chains are disconnected. Failure to heed this warning may cause the following severe consequences: 1. A twisted frame. 2. The combination of a weight distributing hitch and hydraulic surge brakes on a camper will tend to keep the brakes applied. This condition may cause tire or brake failure due to overheating with the possibility for loss of control or tire damage or both. 3. Damage caused by improper hitch usage, will void any portion of the Bonair warranty which may apply to your unit. Pulling DRIVING TIPS 1. Move into traffic in low gear and accelerate gradually. Do not rush through the gear sequence. 1. Stay in the right lane as much as possible. Allow faster vehicles the right of way. 2. Before passing a slower vehicle, be certain that you have sufficient speed and highway space available to safely complete the manoeuvre. Signal all lane changes. Allow enough room between you and the vehicle you pass before returning to the right lane. 3. When turning, swing wide of the curb. The camper will turn closer to the curb than the towing vehicle. 4. Shift to a lower gear when either ascending or descending a hill or steep grade. Backing Place hand at the bottom of the steering wheel. Move the wheel in the direction you want the camper to go. Until you've mastered these techniques, you may want to schedule some practice sessions at a convenient empty parking lot before embarking on any trips. At this point, you should have a basic understanding of your camper. Running gear Check wheel nuts before your first trip and again after 200 miles. They should be kept tight. Bearings and hubs are greased by our supplier but should be checked after 300 miles and then every thousand miles or twice a year. Brakes See manufacturer's manual for care and maintenance. Gear box The gear box is fully lubricated and sealed at the factory. No maintenance is required. Lifting mechanism Lubricate pulleys and raising arms with a good grade light oil. Never use graphite or heavy grade oil which may stain canvas. Canvas Set up camper and spray with a hose to precondition canvas. Allow canvas to dry, and spray again. Canvas may leak in first rain, if not preconditioned. To clean canvas use only a scrub brush: no water, no soap. For stubborn stains you may use warm water and a very mild detergent. Rince thoroughly with cold water and allow to dry completely. If canvas looses its repellency apply a thin coat of water spray repellent. White vinyl The white vinyl over the bunks may be cleaned in the same manner as the canvas. Convertible top cleaner, can also be used, but make sure not to spill solution on canvas. Moisture which may form on the inside of the bunk ends may be controlled by opening the roof vent or bed windows. When using stove or furnace inside camper, leave door open or roof vent open to provide exhaust. Winter Storage It's not recommended to cover unit with plastic cover unless you provide an adequate ventilation inside your camper so that moisture will evaporate. If parked inside, open door and roof vent. The camper should be slanted from front to rear so that water may drain off roof. Open ice box or refrigerator door.

3 Sanitizing water system To assure complete sanitation of your potable water system it's recommended that the following procedures be followed: on a new system, one that has not been used for a period of time or one that may have become contaminated. 1- Preparation of chloride solution using one gallon of water and one quarter cup of chlorox or pure household bleach. (5% sodium hypochlorite solution) Pour one gallon of solution into each 10 gallons of tank capacity. 2- Complete filling of tank with fresh water. Open each faucet and draincock until all air has been released from pipes and entire system is filled. 3- Allow to stand for three hours. 4- Drain and flush with potable water. 5- To remove any excession chlorine taste or odor which might remain, prepare a solution of one quart of vinegar to five gallons of water and allow this solution to agitate in tank for several days by vehicle motion. 6- Drain tank and again flush with fresh potable water. Set up instructions 1- Reinstall dolley wheel on front jack leg. 2- Release coupler from hitch ball position and place your camper in desired location. 3- Release your corner roof latches. 2- Insert handle through the bumper, move ratchet lever to up position. 3- Crank handle clockwise till canvas is stretched.

10 Fold down instructions Inside camper 1- Close windows and curtains. 2- Lower dinette to bed position. 3- Lower kitchen console and clothes closet if so equipped. 4- Remove canvas tension bars and lower support bow. 5- Withdraw lock pins from beds. 6- Detach the canvas sidewall from door groove and swing upper door to roof. Outside camper 1- Lower zippers on four corners and unhook both elastics cords under bunks. 2- Make sure to raise all four stabilizing jacks before lowering the roof. 3- Slide both bed ends into camper and remove bed supports.

11 4- Use handle and put ratchet to down position, turn handle counter clockwise. When cranking down, to stop at any position put lever to up position. 5- Make sure the canvas is all the way in before lowering roof to the body. Then lower roof to body. Fasten corner roof latches. Latch tension may be varied by turning nuts on latch bolt.
