1 7404 ENGINEERING PROJECTS 4th Year Degree in Civil Engineering The purpose of the module is to serve as a methodological guide for students in the drafting of engineering projects (infrastructural works), through knowledge of regulations, procedures and execution phases, so that the student has a solid generalist training that will allow subsequent specialization in any field of project engineering. Likewise, the student will be given a great deal of detailed knowledge on budgetary control, and the measurement and the assessment of engineering works and projects Module: Specific Technology To gain familiarity with the factors that intervene in the planning, design and construction of railway lines and cable transport. Likewise, to be aware of the different elements that make up these modes of transport, the different operations of maintenance and control that have to be carried out and the installations that are used ADDITIONAL STUDIES ON CONCRETE ECTS credits: 3 Semester: 1 The objective is to study scientific and technological knowledge related to reinforced concrete in greater depth, from the point of view of the design and calculation of structural elements as well as from the constructive standpoint. In addition, a short introduction to bridges will be imparted Coordination of Security The principal objective of the module is for the student to understand that prevention and security are two working tools that should be present when putting technical knowledge into practice that they learn in other modules with a

2 strictly constructive character, in such a way that the solutions proposed in each particular case are conditioned by the necessary application of preventive measures so as to prevent accidents. Awareness should be acquired, so that the student can observe the construction site as an integrated whole in which on-site safety should condition technical and economic aspects, contributing solutions that make them compatible. Simultaneously, the aim is to impart general knowledge of the regulations in the field of risk prevention, and specific knowledge of the regulations applicable to the construction sector Supply and sanitation networks On completion of the module, the student should know: - The hydrological cycle of water in nature and water pollution. - The urban cycle of water and water contamination. - The concept of water quality. Quality parameters for its abstraction, supply and discharge. - The water needs of a population. - Parts of a water supply: abstraction, treatment, conduction, storage and distribution of water. - Sizing of water distribution networks. - Evacuation of wastewaters and rainwater. - Sizing of sanitation networks. - Construction and conservation of supply and sanitation networks. - Water treatment concepts Evaluation of Environmental Impact To master the fundamental concepts of ecology and the basic environmental legislation. To learn the principles, procedures, processes and fundamental methods for the evaluation of environmental impact. To know how to solve problems related to the contamination of water, soil, and the atmosphere and noise pollution.

3 7408 END-OF-DEGREE ASSIGNMENT ECTS credits: 12 Semester: 2 To master the fundamental concepts of ecology and the basic environmental legislation. To know the principles, procedures, processes and fundamental methods for environmental impact evaluations. To know how to solve problems related to the contamination of water, soil, the atmosphere and noise pollution. OPTIONAL ASSIGNMENTS COMMON TO BLOCK II (choose 9 credits, 3 assignments) 7412 SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS FOR THE LAYOUT OF LINEAR PROJECTS Teaching objectives To learn the structure and techniques of software programmes applied to the layout of linear works LAND IMPROVEMENTS Upon completion of the assignment, the student should be able to know how to recognize land-related problems, to design underpinning works, as well as to design approaches to land improvement works CONSTRUCTION OF BRIDGES AND SINGULAR STRUCTURES The objective is to introduce the student to basic aspects linked to the construction of bridges and singular structures. An eminently practical approach is proposed, providing the student with the tools needed for a correct practical approach to fundamental aspects related to the construction of bridges and singular structures.

4 7415 Additional Geotechnics The student is offered basic additional training on Soil and Rock Mechanics to be able to approach the methodology related to Geotechnics in infrastructural construction works. Knowledge will be widened for the analysis and sizing of walls and flexible structures, as well as the stability of inclined faces, and their calculation will be approached through the use of software programmes The basics of Urban Services To know the necessities of urban activities. To gain familiarity with design and calculation methods and the introduction of urban network services. To develop practical applications for concrete examples LIGHTING TECHNOLOGY The module on Lighting Technology seeks to give a general vision of the different forms of casting light, as well as its control and applications for domestic, industrial and artistic purposes, covering the general principles in depth and leaving possible additional information for future studies or for professional practice New Construction Materials Acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of the physical, chemical, mechanical and technological properties, oriented towards the correct use of the most widely used new construction materials in civil engineering.

5 7419 Construction of Hydraulic Works Upon completion of the module, the student should know and understand: - The constructive methods applicable to hydraulic works. - The suitability of constructive methods and mediums in each particular case THE OPERATION OF PORTS To gain familiarity with the functioning of port infrastructure, with special emphasis on its operation, design and planning. OPTIONAL ASSIGNMENTS WITH MENTION (It is obligatory to follow all of the optional assignments with the same mention that were selected for the third-year course) CIVIL CONSTRUCTIONS WITH MENTION 7421 Maritime works ECTS credits: 3 Semester: 1 - To gain knowledge of the physical marine environment. - To determine the maritime climate that influences actions on the coastline and in ports, from wind to waves. Characterization of wave action. - To gain knowledge of mechanics and the dynamics of waves: progressive waves, events associated with the propagation of waves, large waves. - To understand the nature and evolution of ports, their determining factors from the point of view of boats, and the fundamental criteria for their spatial organization and planning, also introducing their exploitation, management and port planning and the works and actions of port engineering. - To gain familiarity with the typologies of exterior maritime works, the advantages and inconveniences of each type, the constructive procedures and the functional requirements of maritime works. - To achieve the capability for the functional and the structural design of vertical and sloping dykes. - To gain knowledge of the dynamics of coastal sediments.

6 7422 PREFABRICATION To learn the typology of prefabricated elements and their field of application. To provide the student with the necessary knowledge for their correct on-site use in industrial and civil construction projects. To gain familiarity with current regulations on prefabricated components Geotechnic Engineering The student is offered additional basic training on the Mechanics of Soils and Rocks, so as to be able to approach the major part of the reasoning related to geotechnics in infrastructural construction works. Knowledge will be conveyed to students for the analysis and sizing of foundations. Students will be given general knowledge on earth pressure on walls and flexible structures. Finally, the stability of sloping surfaces will be analyzed. Once this foundation is known, the student will be ready to approach the construction of the majority of possible geotechnical works. TRANSPORT AND URBAN SERVICES WITH MENTION 7424 Conservation and exploitation of roadways ECTS credits: 3 Semester: 1 To acquire the basic knowledge for the conservation and exploitation of roadways TRANSPORTATION OF GOODS, INTERMODALITY AND LOGISTICS ECTS credits: 6 Semester: 2 Knowledge of the principles and basic stages in the logistics of goods transportation. Information collection techniques for the analysis of transportation systems. Modelling and prediction of the demand for goods transportation. Knowledge of the logistics of goods transportation and airport terminals (logistics centres and modal interchange, ports, airports and train stations).
