CBA has1,009 branches, more than 3,800 Post agencies, Over 3,300 ATMs, 187,000 EFTPOS terminals and 10 call centers. CHALLENGES/OPPORTUNITIES CUSTOMER PERSPECTIVE The Exadata family enables CBA to enhance the current OaaS to an advanced grid platform with superior performance (OaaS2), geared to accommodate both OLTP and DSS-styled workloads optimally. OaaS was initially a project/program adopted by CBA for Database Consolidation via grid architecture on Oracle DB 10.2 environment and supports a mix of both OLTP and DSS workload. The OaaS platform, although performing to expectation, is nearing 85% average utilization and as a result, requires further capacity planning. SOLUTIONS Half a Rack of Exadata Database Machine and Exadata Server Storage Software to extend the current OaaS platform with an Exadata based solution Migrate DSS styled application workloads to this environment (OaaS2), freeing the previous OaaS platform to support mostly OLTP applications and workloads. RESULTS PeopleSoft upgrade project is one of the many business applications identified for migration to the new OaaS2 platform. However the OaaS2 platform is also recognized as offering significant opportunity for the bank s DataStage (ETL), Quantum, esas/financial Crimes Platform (FCP) and Empire (Margin Lending) applications.
