3 Appendix C: Potential Projects Mapping the Future: The Southwestern PA Plan lays out investment strategies and transportation opportunities that provide a map to the future, a future in which we not only attain our transportation aspirations, but also advance the Regional Vision of Transportation and land use that supports and enhances the regional economy and the communities within it. The Fiscally-Constrained Transportation Investments element (Section 8) follows the region s map to the future; however, it can only move us so far along that path. It advances the region s priorities within the budget allowed. But, as the plan illustrates, to reach our destination and fully realize the Regional Vision, the region will need to aggressively go beyond the reasonably anticipated funding available through state and federal sources. This appendix identifies potential projects, concepts and aspirations that are not currently within reasonably expected funding and will need significant new resources to move forward.
