5 Certificate & Diploma Requirements Students must successfully complete three HL (Higher Level) IB classes and three SL (Standard Level) IB classes and pass the IB examinations. Students must successfully complete the Extended Essay, CAS, and Theory of Knowledge. 10 (CAS) Creativity, Action, & Service Students must complete 150 hours to fulfill the CAS requirements.

11 Extended Essay The extended essay is an independent, self-directed piece of research, culminating in a 4,000-word paper. It s an opportunity for students to engage in an in-depth study of a topic of interest within a chosen subject. Students will be assigned a mentor to help guide them through the extended essay process.

12 Comparing AP & IB Both AP & IB classes are rigorous and challenging AP= Scale 1-5, 3=Passing * IB= Scale 1-7, 4= Passing AP is subject specific IB encompasses the entire curriculum with TOK connecting all subject areas

14 Transfer Policy Students interested in transferring must complete the in district transfer application through the Office of Student Affairs. Transportation will not be provided for students living outside of the Aynor attendance area. Students must also complete an AHS IB application. (Our IB application will be available online January 10, 2010)
