1 PENNSYLVANIA FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION There are 26 schools offering scholarships to PA FBLA members graduating in the class of A letter indicating your intent to apply for an FBLA scholarship should be directed to the contact person listed for the school. That school will provide you with all necessary materials to apply for its scholarship; there are no other materials required by PA FBLA to be submitted. The individual school will be responsible for the selection of the scholarship recipient(s). The postmark deadline for scholarships offered by the following schools is March 15, The postmark deadline for the PA FBLA William Selden Scholarships is February 24, ALLENTOWN BUSINESS SCHOOL This scholarship is for one-half of each semester s tuition and is renewable each semester until an associate degree is earned if the recipient maintains a 3.0 quality point average. The Allentown Business School offers one (1) FBLA scholarship. Ms. Jena Marx Assistant Director of Admissions Allentown Business School 2809 East Saucon Valley Road Center Valley, PA ALVERNIA COLLEGE - This scholarship is for $1,000 and is renewable each year until a bachelor s degree is earned if the recipient maintains a 2.5 quality point average. The scholarship can be used for fulltime study only (a minimum of 12 credits per semester). Alvernia College offers an FBLA scholarship to all eligible students. Ms. Corinne Lord Financial Aid Counselor Alvernia College 400 St. Bernardine Street Reading, PA THE BOYD SCHOOL Boyd School offers a one-half tuition scholarship. The value of the scholarship is six thousand dollars ($6,000) for the first year and is renewable for an additional $6,000 for the second year if the recipient maintains a 3.0 average. The applicant must enroll and start classes in either July or October of the year of his/her high school graduation. All candidates shall submit to the Boyd School the following: (1) A 250-word essay on why you should be awarded this scholarship. (2) A copy of your most

2 recent transcript. (3) One letter of introduction/recommendation (from parent, relative, teacher, counselor, etc.). (4) Submit a completed scholarship application. The Boyd School offers one (1) FBLA scholarship. Ms. Janice Welch Career Development Specialist The Boyd School 1111 McKee Road Oakdale, PA BRADFORD SCHOOL - This scholarship is for one-half tuition. The Bradford School offers one (1) FBLA scholarship. Ms. Jo Case Admissions Manager Bradford School Gulf Tower 707 Grant Street Pittsburgh, PA BUSINESS CAREERS INSTITUTE, GREENSBURG - This scholarship is for one-half tuition for the 16- month Associate Degree Program of the winner s choice. All applicants shall have an overall QPA of 2.5. This information will be verified with an official transcript. Each applicant must submit a 250-word essay explaining why he/she has chosen to pursue an education in the field of business. One (1) FBLA scholarship awarded to be used at Business Careers Institute, Greensburg, PA. Mr. Jason Vallozzi, Director High School Operations Business Careers Institute, Greensburg 1940 Perrysville Avenue Pittsburgh, PA CAMBRIA-ROWE BUSINESS COLLEGE This scholarship is $3,600 toward the ASB degree program of the winners choice. Six hundred dollars ($600) is applied to each of the students six (6) terms. Two (2) scholarships are awarded. All applicants must be seniors, active in FBLA, and shall have an overall high school GPA of 2.5 verified by an official transcript. The scholarship can be used for full-time study only and recipients must enroll within one (1) year of high school graduation. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of scholarship application, a letter addressed to the scholarship committee stating their career goals

3 in business, and one (1) letter of recommendation. These scholarships may be used at Johnstown or Indiana. Cambria-Rowe Business College offers two (2) FBLA scholarships. Mrs. Amanda Artim Director of Admissions Cambria-Rowe Business College 221 Central Avenue Johnstown, PA CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA COLLEGE - This year Central Pennsylvania College will award scholarships to qualified PA FBLA members. A scholarship of $500 per term, up to $1,500 for an associate s degree will be awarded to each member, and must be used toward any of Central Penn s 37 majors. Selection criteria will mandate that applicants be 2004 high school seniors. To qualify, you must be a 2004 high school graduate; enroll as a full-time, degree-seeking student; and submit a Central Penn Club Scholarship Application no later than June 1, Central Pennsylvania College offers an FBLA scholarship to all eligible students. Verhagen Admissions Director Central Pennsylvania College Campus on College Hill & Valley Roads Summerdale, PA CLARION UNIVERSITY OF PA - This scholarship is for $500 for an incoming freshman who enrolls as a full-time student in Clarion University s College of Business Administration. Clarion University of PA offers one FBLA scholarship. Dr. Sarah Bryant Bower, Dean College of Business Administration Clarion University of PA 840 Wood Street Clarion, PA DOUGLAS EDUCATION CENTER - This is a 25% of current tuition only scholarship for any Douglas Associate in Specialized Business Degree programs. The scholarship must be used within six (6) months of the award date. The Douglas Education Center offers one (1) FBLA scholarship. Ms. Patricia A. DeConcilis Director of Education Douglas Education Center 130 Seventh Street Monessen, PA DUBOIS BUSINESS COLLEGE - These scholarships are for $2,000 and payable at the start of the student s third and fifth quarters in the amount of $1,000 each. The successful applicant must be enrolled

4 as a full-time student and shall maintain a 3.0 quality point average to maintain the scholarship. All candidates shall contact the school. Prior to FBLA submission deadline, all candidates shall arrange for an entrance exam at DuBois Business College. These scholarships can be for students attending any of our three locations: DuBois, Huntingdon, and Oil City. The DuBois Business College offers three (3) scholarships at each campus. Ms. Gail Urban Student Services Director DuBois Business College One Beaver Drive DuBois, PA GOLDEY-BEACOM COLLEGE - This nonrenewable scholarship is for $1,500 and can be used by a fulltime student in any bachelors or associates degree program. The Goldey-Beacom College offers two (2) FBLA scholarships. Mr. Kevin McIntyre Dean of Admissions Goldey-Beacom College 4701 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE INDIANA UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA (IUP) - This scholarship is for $500 for an incoming freshman who enrolls as a full-time student in IUP s Eberly College of Business and Information Technology (ECOBIT). Indiana University of PA offers one (1) FBLA scholarship. Ms. Julie Moreland Assistant Dean Eberly College of Business & Information Technology Indiana University of Pennsylvania 208 ECB, 664 Pratt Drive Indiana, PA JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY - Three (3) scholarships are being offered as follows: One (1) at $1,500 renewable for up to four (4) years totaling $6,000; one (1) at $1,200 renewable for up to four (4) years totaling $4,800; and one at $1,000 renewable for up to four (4) years totaling $4,000. These scholarships are renewable only if the recipient maintains a satisfactory academic standing, is enrolled in a

5 full-time day school program, and participates in the Phi Beta Lambda Chapter at Johnson and Wales University. Johnson & Wales University offers three (3) FBLA scholarships. Mr. Thomas Gauthier, Director National Student Organizations Johnson & Wales University 8 Abbott Park Place Providence, RI KEYSTONE COLLEGE - This scholarship is for $2,000 for an incoming freshman enrolled in a Business Curriculum. The successful applicant shall be a full-time student who has completed the application process by April 1, 2004, is in the top 2/5 of his/her class, and has had an interview with the Division Chair of Business/Technology. The scholarship is renewable for the second year if the student has maintained a 3.0 quality point average and has completed 24 credits at Keystone. Keystone College offers one (1) FBLA scholarship. Ms. Patricia A. Davis, Professor Coordinator of Accounting Keystone College Harris Hall 102 La Plume, PA LAUREL BUSINESS INSTITUTE - These scholarships are for one-half tuition of the applicant s choice of program including ten (10) specialized associate degrees or five (5) diploma programs. The successful applicant must be a full-time student and must maintain a 3.0 quality point average to continue the scholarship. The Laurel Business Institute offers two (2) FBLA scholarships. Decker President Laurel Business Institute Penn Street Uniontown, PA MCCANN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY- Three (3) scholarships will be awarded at $500 each and payable at the start of the second term of the first year. The successful applicant must be a fulltime student enrolled in a diploma or ASB degree and shall maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average to maintain the scholarship. The recipient shall enroll at McCann School of Business and Technology in the July or September terms immediately following graduation. One (1) scholarship is to be awarded to a student attending the Mahanoy City Campus, and one (1) is to be awarded to a student attending the

6 Pottsville Campus and one (1) is to be awarded to a student attending the Sunbury Campus. McCann School of Business and Technology offers three (3) FBLA scholarships. Ms. Stephanie L. Zanders High School Admissions Representative McCann School of Business 2650 Woodglen Road Pottsville, PA NEWPORT BUSINESS INSTITUTE (LOWER BURRELL) - These scholarships are for one-half tuition (approximately $8,050) for any 21-month program leading to an Associate in Specialized Business Degree. The recipient must maintain a 3.0 quality point average and excellent attendance. The Newport Business Institute offers two (2) FBLA scholarships. Ms. Rose Leipertz Director of Financial Aid Newport Business Institute 945 Greensburg Road Lower Burrell, PA NEWPORT BUSINESS INSTITUTE (WILLIAMSPORT) - This scholarship is for one-half tuition for any 18- month program. A 3.0 quality point average is required during the period the scholarship is in effect. The Newport Business Institute offers one (1) FBLA scholarship. Ms. Mary O. Weaver, Director Newport Business Institute 941 West Third Street Williamsport, PA PEIRCE COLLEGE - Peirce is offering two (2) $1,500 each FBLA scholarships--one (1) for PA FBLA and one (1) for any FBLA member including PA FBLA. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic records and leadership skills. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average. The scholarship is renewable for a second year. Peirce College offers two (2) FBLA scholarships. Ms. Lisa Gargiolo, Director Student Financial Services Peirce College 1420 Pine Street Philadelphia, PA PENN COMMERCIAL BUSINESS/TECHNICAL SCHOOL - Two (2) 30% of tuition scholarships are being offered in any degree program offered by the school. The recipient shall maintain a 2.0 grade point

7 average (GPA) or the scholarship is forfeited. The award must be used within one (1) year. Penn Commercial Business/Technical School offers two (2) scholarships. Mr. Michael Joyce Director of Admissions Penn Commercial Business/Technical School 242 Oak Spring Road Washington, PA PENNSYLVANIA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY The Pennsylvania College of Technology offers a $500 scholarship for an incoming freshman who enrolls as a full-time degree-seeking student in the Office Information Technology (OO, OI, or OW emphasis) or the Health Information Technology (HI) majors within Pennsylvania College of Technology s School of Business and Computer Technologies. Recipients must be active FBLA members and enroll at our College within one year of high school graduation. The Pennsylvania College of Technology offers two (2) such FBLA scholarships. 8 SOUTH HILLS SCHOOL OF BUSINESS & TECHNOLOGY - The South Hills School of Business & Technology will award a $500 annual renewable scholarship payable at the start of the second term of the first year. All scholarship applicants shall be 2004 high school seniors and active FBLA members. Recipients shall be determined on the basis of a review of the scholarship application, participation in FBLA, academic record, extra-curricular activities, and a personal interview. A scholarship student must be enrolled full-time and maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA). Also, confirmation of active membership in South Hills PBL (college equivalent of FBLA) is required. South Hills School of Business and Technology offers one (1) FBLA scholarship. Mrs. Maryann Lingenfelter Event Coordinator and Alumni Relations South Hills School of Business & Technology 480 Waupelani Drive State College, PA TEMPLE UNIVERSITY - These scholarships are for $500 for incoming freshman, enrolled in the Fox School of Business and Management. The successful applicants shall be full-time students who have completed the application process by March 31 and are in the top 2/5 of his/her graduating class. Temple University offers two (2) FBLA scholarships. Ms. Katie Gerst Assistant Director, Enrollment Management Temple University Fox School of Business & Management 106B Speakman Hall (006-00) 1810 North 13th Street Philadelphia, PA WEST VIRGINIA CAREER INSTITUTE These scholarships are equal to fifty percent of the tuition cost of any program offered degree or diploma. The value of a fifty percent scholarship is $8,550 for a degree program. The recipient shall maintain a C grade average. All candidates shall contact the school. Prior to FBLA submissions deadline, all candidates shall arrange for a scholarship test at West Virginia Career Institute. The West Virginia Career Institute offers two (2) FBLA scholarships. Braddock, PA YORK TECHNICAL INSTITUTE - Two (2) scholarships are being offered for one-half tuition each to be used in one of the following programs: Business Administration, Computer Systems Specialists or Culinary Arts/Restaurant Management. All applicants shall be 2004 high school seniors and active FBLA members. Recipients shall be determined on the basis of academic record, activities, scholarship application, letter stating reasons for career choices, and two letters of recommendation. A scholarship recipient is encouraged to maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) while attending York Technical

9 Institute. The scholarship must be utilized within one (1) academic year of the applicant s graduation from high school. York Technical Institute offers two (2) FBLA scholarships. Ms. Carol Brenneman Director of High School Relations York Technical Institute 1405 Williams Road York, PA PENNSYLVANIA FBLA WILLIAM SELDEN SCHOLARSHIPS - Ten (10) scholarships are being offered to applicants who complete the PA FBLA Who s Who Criteria and place 1 st -10 th place at the State Leadership Conference. The Who s Who Criteria can be found in the downloadables section of the PA FBLA website. The deadline for the Who s Who application is February 24, The scholarships may be used at any college for any major. Scholarships are paid after the completion of the first semester of post-secondary education, and the student must have maintained a 2.0 GPA. The scholarship awards are: first place, $1,500; second place, $1,000; third place, $750; fourth-tenth places, $500. Only one entry per chapter is permitted. Mr. Bruce E.
