American Express Full or Part-Time Student Must be working a minimum of 20 hours per week at a AH&LA member hotel with at least 12 months' hotel experience OR be a dependent of a qualified employee and have past employment in some capacity in the hospitality industry. $2,000 (full-time), $1,000 (part-time) award 3. Hyatt Minority Enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for upcoming fall and spring semesters, or just the Fall semester if graduating this December Undergraduate hospitality management major At least a sophomore in a four-year program The competition is open to minority students: African-American, Hispanic, American Indian or Alaskan Native, and Asian or Pacific Islander A U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident $2,000 award 4. AH&LEF Incoming Freshman Enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for the upcoming fall and spring semesters Have a minimum overall GPA of 2.0 Be a U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident Preference will be given to high school graduates of the Lodging Management Program (LMP) $2,000 award

First Time Freshman Scholarship Students who will be first-time freshman including graduating high school seniors, GED graduates and high school graduates enrolling in college for the first time Applicants must be pursuing studies in a restaurant and foodservice-related program $2,500 award 2. Current Undergraduate Students Current undergraduate students enrolled in a foodservice-related program $2,500 award

3 Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association Education Educational Scholarships 1. Graduating High School, Vocational School or Post-Secondary School Scholarship Graduates of high schools and vocational schools who plan to study the hospitality industry at either a Virginia two year or four year college or university or postsecondary school students who specialize in the culinary arts Award is based upon the student s desire to pursue a degree in this industry as well as a previously proven record of interest, such as part-time or summer employment in the industry Student s academic background is expected to be a C average or better 2. College or University Scholarship Student who has completed two full years at a four-year college and/or university majoring in the hospitality industry management and has demonstrated successful academic achievement and interest in the hospitality industry Student must have achieved a 2.5 overall grade point average on a 4-point system and have demonstrated a successful work experience background within the industry 3. Graduating High School, Vocational School or Post-Secondary School Scholarship (Out of State) Graduates of high schools and vocational schools who plan to study the hospitality industry at either a two year or four year college or university or post-secondary school students who specialize in the culinary arts not in Virginia Award is based upon the student s desire to pursue a degree in this industry as well as a previously proven record of interest, such as part-time or summer employment in the industry Student s academic background is expected to be a C average or better

Joe Perdue Scholarship Candidate must provide strong evidence that he/she is pursuing a managerial career in the private club industry Candidate must have completed his/her freshman year of college and be enrolled for the full academic year in an accredited four-year institution Candidate must have achieved and continue to maintain a grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale Additional points are awarded for CMAA student chapter members

Tourism Cares Academic Scholarship Program Applicants may only apply for the Academic Scholarship Program through the online application which will be available in February Applicant must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada Applicant must be a full or part time student enrolled in a travel, tourism or hospitality related program of study Applicant must be enrolled in the fall semester of a two or four year university in the United States or Canada Student must have a cumulative or overall 3.0 grade point average Upperclassmen: sophomores, juniors or seniors (with the exception of the High School Scholarship) $1,000-5,000 awards

Minorities in Hospitality Scholarship Program Applicant must be enrolled in an accredited college or university with a major in the hospitality field Student must have sophomore, junior, or senior level standing for the period of the scholarship Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and considered a member of a minority group African American, American Indian, Hispanic American, or Asian America $2,000 award

9 Association of Destination Management Executives 1. Linda Thompson Memorial Scholarship Applications will be accepted from individuals who are preparing for a career in destination management. The length of the program may be one year or longer. $1,000 scholarship is payable to an accredited college or university with meetings management or hospitality program You will need to have a letter of recommendation either by a college/university professor or a professional in the meetings industry. This letter of recommendation should verify your: Commitment and ability to complete the educational program Experience in the meetings industry, whether volunteer or paid Aptitude to deal with the demands of the destination management profession. The applicant should include a statement of at least 250 words that describes interest in the meetings industry/ destination management profession and how you would benefit from the scholarship

10 International Association of Conference Centers IACC Conference Center Industry Award This scholarship has a monetary value of $5, It is drawn from a fund dedicated to providing academic assistance to deserving students interested in careers in the conference center industry and is supported through generous contributions from IACC members and associated organizations Undergraduate students in their junior or senior year, or post graduate level students Full-time, active student currently pursuing hospitality or related degree, in a University located in North America, Canada or Mexico Minimum grade point average of 3.30 Can demonstrate interest in pursuing career in conference center industry Previous winners ineligible A letter of recommendation from a qualified faculty member, explaining in sufficient detail the candidate s worthiness and verifying his/her GPA A personal statement from the candidate, concisely describing his/her interests in the hospitality industry, his/her career goals, and stating why the student feels he/she is worthy of the grant-in-aid Deadline: January 15, 2013
