STARTING OFF STRONG GRADES END-OF-COURSE ATTENDANCE RULES GET INVOLVED GRADUATION PLAN ASK QUESTIONS

GRADES Grades are important starting the first day of school your freshman year. Making a 70 or above in a course at the semester earns you.5 credit. Students must have an average of a 70 for the year in a course to earn 1.0 credit. Ex: 62 1 st semester nd semester = credit Ex: 56 1 st semester nd semester = 70.5 credit You MUST make above a 60 EACH semester in order for the grades to count towards credit!! Each semester, your grades are recorded on your Academic Achievement Record (Transcript) and you will then have a Grade Point Average (GPA) and Class Rank.

CREDITS Students are classified based on the year they first enter 9th grade and the number of academic credits they earn before the start of the next school year. In order to move from one grade level to the next, Cuero High School students must earn a total of 6 credits per year. GRADE LEVEL CLASSIFICATION GRADE CLASSIFICATION CREDITS 9 th Freshman th Sophomore th Junior th Senior

COURSES, GPA and CLASS RANK Different courses count differently towards your GPA. Any course taken towards your Endorsement counts towards your GPA. Any Honors Level course adds 5 extra points per semester to your GPA. Any AP or Dual Credit course will add 10 extra points per semester to your GPA. The Grade Point Average is derived by dividing the total number of grade points by the number of semester courses attempted. A student who passes everything and has Honors Level courses can end up with a GPA over 100. Class rank is based on the cumulative GPA on all high school credit courses. You will have your first GPA and Class Rank calculated after the first semester this year.

END-OF-COURSE EXAMS Must pass all 5 in order to graduate from High School English I English II Biology Algebra I US History

ATTENDANCE and RULES Must be in attendance 90% of the semester to earn credit for a course. May only miss 9 school days per semester, excused or unexcused, to receive credit. It is very important to have a clean discipline record. When it comes time for you to apply for college, trade school, the military or a job and you need recommendations from people here at school what you did here as a student, how you behaved and handled yourself (and what you didn t do) will play a big part in what people will be able to say about you. Stay out of trouble. Follow the big rules but don t forget about the small ones. What you do as a freshman is not easily forgotten~~people will remember it when you are a junior and senior and oftentimes treat you accordingly.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS Getting Involved High School is more meaningful if you can become a part of something you enjoy. CHS has many clubs and organizations to choose from~~stop by our offices for a list. It s never too late to join! Participation in extracurricular activities, clubs and voluntary service organizations helps build your resume for college/job/ scholarships.
