1. Omega-3, a growing market to face a global concern 3

Omega-3: A consumer evidence based on scientific proves Omega-3 Deficiency in Modern Lifestyle is a global concern: The number of consumers concerned about heart health is rising In the US, Omega-3 deficiency causes 96,000 deaths yearly and is the sixth biggest killer of Americans, deadlier than excess trans fat intake Modern diets are becoming increasingly convenience based: Higher levels of saturated fats Decreasing amounts of Omega-3 intake in favour of Omega-6 in our current consumption the Ω6:Ω3 ratio is > 10:1 The ideal Ω6:Ω3 ratio recommended by EFSA is 5:1* Omega-3 is not only good for our health, it is essential to the body and needs to be reintroduced in our modern food * The EFSA Journal (2009) 1176,

What are Omega-3? The Omega-3 are Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid There are three types of Omega-3s: Alpha-Linolenic acid (ALA) Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) VEGETABLE SOURCES: Chia seeds MARINE SOURCES: fish oil, algae ALA is the only Essential Fatty Acid (EFA): it is required in the diet as it can not be synthesized by the human body Chia seed contains up to 67.8% ALA in its oil Chia is the richest natural source of ALA Omega-3 Fatty Acids 5

2. BENEXIA CHIA OIL: A sustainable source of Omega-3 6

Chia, a traditional seed Salvia Hispanica L., commonly called CHIA, is an oleaginous seed that was used as food and medicine by natives from Central America since 3500 years BC Initially grown in Mexico and Guatemala, the Aztecs used chia seed as offering to their gods, as sacred food When the Conquistadores arrived at South America, all crops were eradicated and Chia became almost extinct, as the Spanish believed it to be sacred and therefore powerful for the Aztecs The Chia seed was newly rediscovered and introduced in Europe and Asia for its incredible nutritional benefits 7

BENEXIA provides all the benefits of Chia BENEXIA CHIA OIL is a highly pure Chia Oil coming from Chia seeds which undergo a cold-press extraction and filtering process in order to ensure very low levels of acidity and peroxides BENEXIA as a vegetable source of Omega-3 and thanks to eco-friendly growing practices provides no negative impact on eco-system and no use restriction BENEXIA CHIA OIL provides Essential Fatty Acids to consumers in a reliable and sustainable way 8

3. BENEXIA CHIA OIL: The best plant source of Omega-3 9

Why is BENEXIA the richest natural source of Omega-3? 25g BENEXIA Ratios Omegas 6:3 1:3 2:1 6:1 7:1 2:1 2:1 2:1 5:1 * Sources: Circulation 2002, Sernac 2001, Chilean Nutritional Content Table 10

Comparison of different oils rich in Omega-3 % Fatty Acids What are the benefits of BENEXIA over other ALA sources? Salmon Oil Chia Oil Canola Oil Algal Oil Flax Oil Walnut Oil Saturated 14,1 7,2 7 17,9 6,9 10 Monounsaturated 22,9 7, ,5 19,5 18,5 Polyunsaturated Omega-6 6,3 18,8 21 1, ,5 Omega-3 ALA 1,1 62, ,2 12 DHA 12, EPA 8, Omega-3 Total 22,8 62, ,2 12 Omega-3 plant sources have a major advantage over fish and algal oil, as they contain a significantly lower amount of saturated fatty acids (myristic, palmitic and stearic). When comparing only palmitic and myristic total content, chia results with 3,3 times less quantity than fish oil. 11

BENEXIA CHIA OIL An amazingly rich nutritional ingredient BENEXIA CHIA OIL is an excellent source of antioxidants with a high ORAC* value = 9,62 µmoles TE/ml compared to Flaxseed Oil (<3 µmoles TE/ml) and Canola Oil (1,4 µmoles TE/ml) BENEXIA CHIA OIL is rich in tocopherols and phytosterols BENEXIA CHIA OIL has no side effects: No cholesterol compared to animal Omega-3 sources and is trans fatty acids free No safety issues, no antinutrients compared to flax toxicity No allergenicity issues Gluten free * ORAC = Oxygen Radicals Absorption Capacity 12

BENEXIA CHIA OIL benefits from a high oxidative stability If not controlled, oxidation can originate odd tastes, as well as promote aging and aging-associated degenerative conditions EPA and DHA fatty acids oxidize faster than ALA and become toxic oxidant products. Flaxseed Oil is also very unstable BENEXIA CHIA OIL has numerous powerful antioxidant components: mirycetin, quercetin, kaemperol, and caffeic acid Oil Rancimat (hrs) Fish oil 3,00 ± 0,05 Chia oil 15,00 ± 1,00 Flaxseed oil 9,88 ± 0,70 Canola oil 30,10 ± 1,33 Algal Oil 4,00 ± 0,05 BENEXIA CHIA OIL provides chia s powerful antioxidant activity as Omega-3 source 13

4. BENEXIA CHIA OIL, the most bioavailable source of Omega-3 14

Alpha Linolenic Acid (ALA), An Essential Fatty Acid required in our diet The two EFAs (Essential Fatty Acids) must be brought by the alimentation The two established EFAs are: Linoleic Acid (LA), which converts to the longer chain Omega-6 fatty acid Arachidonic Acid (AA) Alpha Linolenic Acid (ALA), which converts to the long chain Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA with important impact on body functions 15

EFAs mechanism of bioconversion ALA works as EPA and DHA precursor 16

The bioconversion of ALA proven by studies Evaluation of Hepatic Bioconversion of A-Linolenic Acid (ALA) to Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) in rats fed oil from Chia (Salvia Hispanica) or Rosa Mosqueta (Rosa Rubiginosa). Rodrigo Valenzuela B. et al. School of Nutrition and Molecular and Clinical Pharmacology Program, Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Chile, Santiago, Chile, 2012 Objective: Evaluate the biosynthesis of EPA and DHA in rats fed with diets containing chia and rosa mosqueta oils as source of ALA precursor. Method: 36 rats in 4 group (9 rats per group) Isocaloric diet: 20% protein, 10% fat, 70% carbohydrates Fat composition for each diet: Sunflower oil (SFO) Rosa mosqueta oil (RSO) Chia oil (CO) Mixture of olive oil and fish oil (OO/FO) Dietary intervention during 21 days 17

Valenzuela study results Chia Oil, a good source of ALA, can significantly increase hepatic levels of ALA, EPA and DHA by using the natural metabolic pathways, resulting in significantly lower n-6:n-3 ratio 18

ALA mechanism of action Conversion of ALA into EPA in humans are around 5% in average but can reach 40% in the case of balanced ALA-LA diet 2g of BENEXIA CHIA OIL can brought 63mg of EPA which represent 25% of recommended daily intake Nevertheless, it is possible to improve ALA efficacy: ALA conversion is significantly affected by dietary intake of LA. There is a competitiveness between Omega-3 and Omega-6 because the same enzymes are involved in their synthesis High intake of EPA and DHA can block ALA conversion (signaling that tissue Omega-3 levels are adequate) By its conversion into EPA and DHA, ALA plays an indispensable role for the balance of the body 19

What is the balanced diet? A unique contribution in EPA and DHA must be completed by a food rich in ALA to stimulate the body metabolism and avoid deficiency Omega-3 brought by fish oil are only EPA and DHA Moreover, a large amount of Omega-6 reduced the bioavailability of Omega-3 In fish oil, the ratio Omega-6:Omega-3 is not good (1:2) According to EFSA, the Recommended Intakes for individuals in the general population in European countries are 10g for LA and 2g for ALA per day*: Omega- 6:Omega-3 = 5:1 It is necessary to increase the consumption of Omega-3 with a source provinding more Omega-3 than Omega-6 to offset the ratio: BENEXIA CHIA OIL has a ratio Omega-6:Omega-3 = 1:3 BENEXIA CHIA OIL is the ideal answer to rebalance the Omega-6:Omega-3 ratio in the body * The EFSA Journal (2009) 1176,

5. BENEXIA CHIA OIL: Scientific evidence for real health benefits 21

ALA contributes to many positive health effects ALA reduces chronic diseases by converting to EPA and DHA and through its own unique metabolic activities: ALA is necessary for cell membrane function and for proper functionning of the brain and nervous system ALA-rich diets increase ALA, EPA and total Omega-3 fatty acid content of cell membrane phospholipids, increasing the cell membrane flexibility and improve their functioning ALA attenuates inflammatory reactions ALA is stored in adipose tissue and has a significant anti-inflammatory and cardiovascular prevention role 22

Real cardiovascular health benefits of ALA supported by epidemiological studies ALA has its own scientific support with numerous epidemiological studies on more than 2500 volunteers ALA improves Heart Health: Decreases the risk of CHD Reduces high blood pressure and anti-hypertensive effect ALA decreases Stroke risk: A high rate of ALA is associated with a decrease of stroke risk Emerged as an independent predictor of stroke risk ALA decreases Cardiac rythm: Improvements in arrhythmia and reduction in platelet aggregation Prevention and/or amelioration of cardio-vascular risk diseases. ALA provides its own benefits in addition with the benefits of both EPA and DHA when ALA is converted More information on request 23

The specific benefits of BENEXIA CHIA OIL In progress study: Composition of milk from Chilean nursing women who received pre and post partum ALA intake from Chia oil, Valenzuela et al., 2014 Effect of Dietary ALA from Chia on lipid content and FA composition of Rat Plasma. A diet with Chia produces dramatic decrease in levels of triglycerides and LDL (bad) cholesterol and increase in HDL (good) cholesterol and Omega-3 fatty acids. Ricardo Ayerza, Jr. Wayne Coates. Ann Nutr Metab 2007;51:27 34 Objective: Compare equivalent dietary intakes of 18:3n-3 fatty acids derived from whole chia seed, ground chia seed and chia oil on serum CHOL, LDL, HDL, TL contents and fatty acid composition, when fed to male Wistar rats. Method: 32 rats (21-23 days old) in 4 group (8 rats per group) Isocaloric diet (4kcal/g of diet) with 20% of protein: T1= control diet: no chia T2: 16% whole chia seed T3: 16% ground chia seed Equal quantities of 18:3n-3 fatty acid from chia T4: 5.34% chia oil Dietary intervention during 30 days 24

BENEXIA CHIA OIL efficiency is proven through a pre-clinical study, Ayerza, 2012 The rats fed with chia diets demonstrated a prodigious decrease in the levels of triglycerides in serum reaching over 35% for chia oil diet than control diet Chia diets can also increase of HDL (good) cholesterol in serum Total polyunsatured n-6 fatty acid content was significantly lower for all chia diets. Chia oil diet is the most effective to decrease the level of n-6 fatty acids The direct consequence is the significative decrease of the n-6:n-3 ratio BENEXIA CHIA OIL diet is the most effective way to rebalance the Omega-6:Omega-3 ratio in the body 25

ALA health benefits recognized by European authorities EFSA experts recognized scientific evidence are sufficient to consider a cause and effect relationship between the dietary intake of ALA and the reduction of blood cholesterol concentrations This is in line with the EFSA recommendation to reduce the risk of suffering from Coronary Heart Diseases *According to the Regulation (EU) No 432/
